Women of god, in 4 more years of bondurant, the town will be in such debt that no one will want to come in behind him and try to clean up his mess, if the town isn’t completly broke by then.

  6. women of god on August 30th, 2012 8:50 am

All i have to say is these four more years are going to be HELL. If you see that he didn’t do anything as major the years he has been major what do you think he is going to do now. I say to all the ones that didn’t vote or should of voted for Clemete you just got what you deserve. You should of voted Clemete in to see how he can turn things around and if didn’t do any better then Bondurant then next election you could of wade your options. But O well you will never know who is the better man for the job will you? Your lost.

  7. poohbear on August 29th, 2012 9:48 pm

well it won’t be long before a lot more are making comments on here…..since the town is already about a million dollars in debt……………..how is that going to get paid? By the taxpayers of course and bondurant is wanting to make more debts over the next 4 years.

  8. Love of flomaton on August 29th, 2012 9:45 pm

Mr. Bondurant is a good, intelligent man. I am proud that he has helped to improve our town. As far as the town gaining more businesses, maybe if our citizens would allow the town to be properly zoned for businesses they would want to come.

    To Just Me

Did you not listen to any of his campaign adds? All he had to say was 113 and the library. I don’t hear him saying, look at me I built the bridge to no where. Common sense left him a long time ago if he EVER had any. Honest, Humble and Fair are 3 words that he knows nothing about. When you won’t even shake the hand of your opponant because they decided to made a better change for Flomaton is not showing any of those things. 4 more years of bondurant will sink Flomaton deeper and deeper in debt.

  10. poohbear on August 29th, 2012 8:02 pm

Bondurant is trying to take the blame for everything good that has come to Flomaton and denied everything that is bad. He is still an arrogant, self centered person and does not think of the people of Flomaton, nor the people that has worked for him.

  11. just me on August 29th, 2012 7:40 pm

@ Concerned Citizen: “Ditto” for more accolades for Mayor Bondurant! I respect a person who does not stand up and say “Hey, look what I did” and it is especially refreshing when a politician is honest, humble, fair, and hard working. For all the ones who have something to complain about … I wonder what you have done for your community to make it better? I’m sure there are many projects that could be spear-headed by someone and get the project approved and the volunteers to get it done. Kudos to those of you who are active in making Flomaton a nice place to live.

Perhaps the reason Dewey Bondurant behaves with such aloofness is that he is in fact a cut above the average commoner. People sometimes wish to ignore the facts and realities of life. People should be aware of their station and that of others.

  13. JOglesbee on August 29th, 2012 3:49 pm

First of all I’m sorry that the best man DID NOT win! I don’t understand people that vote for people just because they go to their church or they are neighbors with them. You should vote for the best person for the job. As far as Bondurant yes we do have a million dollar library that sometimes you do see a few people there but they are always on the computers. Our services for the town keeps going up and as far as 113 people before him put that plan in action but yet he took credit for it. I believe Brooks would have been better, He couldnt have done any worse! And yes I did vote.

  14. Concerned Citizen on August 29th, 2012 12:44 pm

Mayor Bondurant has come under considerable fire for what has been happening with the hiring of the position of police chief. I ask all reasonable citizens of Flomaton this question: What else could our mayor have possibly done to prevent the things that have led to the dismissal or resignations of the past few chiefs? If background checks are completed, resumes are in order, and references checked out, there is nothing that could have been done to prevent the things that have happened.

And as far as his accomplishments for the town of Flomaton, they speak for themselves. Folks, we now have the highways to support ANY level of growth that Flomaton could ever hope to achieve. We absolutely would not have four lanes on hwy 113 if not for our current mayor, and we would not have McDonald’s without that four lane highway. Yes, Florida helped but ONLY after the mayor got them on board! And on a personal note, I asked the mayor if rumble strips could be placed near the end of the highway for safety purposes. He not only helped make it happen, but made a point to find me and make sure that I knew it was taken care of. We have an outstanding modern library in our town, largely due to his efforts. He has gone to Montgomery on many occasions, securing grants for all sorts of projects. The citizens of downtown Flomaton can also thank him for working on the drainage issues that have caused flooding on so many occasions. Most of the development at Hurricane Park can also be attributed to our current mayor. We now have safe, modern playground equipment for our children. We also have a modern firehouse, that was also built during Mayor Bondurant’s tenure. He has kept our town afloat as well in what has to be considered the worst economic situation this country has seen in our lifetime.

I am so very sorry that the best man did NOT win the Flomaton mayorial election. Even sadder is the many great number of commentds supporting Mr. Bondurant who do not seem to understand that four more years of Bonderant will do nothing to help our town. The puppeteers who are pulling the strings made sure that the only worthy candidate was defeated. Seeing how Bonderant does everything else, I wonder if

  16. Ruby White on August 29th, 2012 11:36 am

Congratulations My Dewey. There is alot said in a negative way but I feel you were the best man for the job and so far I think you have done a great job as Mayor..Some of the people that is speaking in a negative way probably don’t or didn’t even bother to vote and really don’t have a clue as to what it takes to be Mayor..We all should be thankful for the town we got..

  17. poohbear on August 29th, 2012 10:52 am

    Andrew, you are so right.

Bondurant likes to say he got the new Library, but did he really? When you go in the Library all the people are doing is getting on the computers. Did Flomaton need the expense of a new Library?

To:Just Me. He REALLY The only reason he wouldn’t let them name 113 after him is bacause there were so many others that had a hand in getting 113 till he couldn’t let them without it causing a lot of back lash. The State of Florida put out a lot of money to widen 113.

  18. MQ on August 29th, 2012 9:44 am

@ 429SCJ – you are so right. If Flomaton disliked the mayor so much, they had the chance to vote him OUT! Oh well, the games will continue till the next election. I guess if people have something to gripe about they are happy. Just like the weather, it gives people something to talk about!

  19. andrew on August 29th, 2012 9:39 am

Bondurant has been in office darn near a decade and all you all can come up with is hwy 113?
Brewton, Atmore, and even Century have all brought business in and constantly doing so, but when you have a mayor who owns businesses and pay his employees peanuts, (check their payroll records) – why would he try to bring in businesses . His employees may leave for better pay. Mayor sam jones in mobile is always in Europe seeking contracts and business. There are rehabilitation grants that dewey can get to revitalize the city, yet he won’t even do that. Look at that sewage pond in front of Damasacus Baptist Church, it is overgrown with vegetation and mosquitos, citizens have complained about it to the mayor personally and he won’t do anything about it. One MLK resident called ADEM themselves and the ADEM guy came to the citizens house and then got the work started the same week. people please, this man has done nothing but make a mess since he’s been in office. A good leader will no how to lead his police department as well. but you got what you wanted, another term of nothing being done.

I just came from the local grocery store and there were people gathered around talking about how bondurant and his wife think they are on a higher level that the rest of us. bondurant won the election but not the popular vote.

429SCJ, I think Flomaton still doesn’t like bondurant I too think Mr Brooks not talking to the Tri City Ledger hurt him. I think Mr. Brooks was running on how much he has done for the community that doesn’t get into the local news.

  23. poohbear on August 29th, 2012 8:10 am

were there any absentee votes that need to be added to both sides?

  24. Sandy on August 29th, 2012 7:27 am

Butch I knew you could do it, you worked very hard for this. I know you will make a difference and work for the people in your district and town. I am very proud of you and love you very much. Your loving wife, Sandy

  25. Mckinley2971 on August 29th, 2012 7:17 am

I thought it showed a lot of character when he did not allow 113 to be named in his honor. Most politicians are always trying to get their names attached to a project but he showed a lot of class and humility on that issue. I don’t know him very well but I would hope that is a hint at who he really is.

I’m not a Flomaton voter but…it seems to me with such a close result that Brooks might have pulled it off had he participated in the Tri City Ledger interview but not doing so could have cost him the 30 or something votes. Most people want to know what their political candidates are thinking.

  26. 429SCJ on August 29th, 2012 12:38 am

I guess Flomaton did not dislike the guy as much as they thought they did.

I don’t want to hear any belly aching about how bad he is, later down the road.

  27. just me on August 28th, 2012 11:58 pm

There have been some comments about Mayor Bondurant both bad and good … that is to be expected in politics. I just want to point out a very significant accomplishment during his first term … Hwy 113 was four laned all the way to the interstate. Mr. Bondurant met with both the Alabama and Florida governors and worked with the DOT in both states to make this happen and it did not happen over night. Tenacity and diligence by Mayor Bondurant made it happen. Getting the project approved and paid for by the state of Alabama AND the state of Florida along with Escambia County (AL) putting in their share made Flomaton the gateway to Pensacola Beach and an important evacuation route for those trying to get to a safe place away from hurricanes. I am so happy that we have a mayor who is strong enough to take the bait at times and just walk away quietly …. Thank you Mayor Bondurant for what you do to help Flomaton.

Yes I was present at the meet and greet the candidates two saturdays ago and all of the candidates there spoke and gave their stand and platform..except mayor bondurant, he was not friendly, he left super super early and did not even stay to ask us for our votes. It was as though he did not care, but he mustive already knew that he would win by 20 votes..lol..

  29. local store employeee on August 28th, 2012 10:34 pm

Well one thing for sure,BONDURANT is so not a friendly individual!!!! He came in a local store with his wife and he wont speak or say a word to you. I spoke and asked how they were doin and he stood there as if i didnt say a word. And then someone asked if he went to Clementes cookout and he replies”yeah I went he didn’t invite me!!! He(clemente) claims he invited everybody) . OKAY IF HE INVITED EVERYBODY THAT INCLUDES you. That man is a trip. Hes not friendly at all. But oh well yall will have to put up with him and his worldly mess.

Dear Friend of Flomaton. You honestly can’t say the better man won. you must not no all the facts to what is going on i this town. It’s a shame that u feel this way and maybe when ABI comes out with there report you will feel differently Nothing will change n this town as long as we have the same person trying to run things.

  33. Mark on August 28th, 2012 9:21 pm

I sure wish people would stop complaining about the mayor, at least he is willing to take his time out of his life to help the town. Plus it takes a town as a whole to make it a good town. If you don’t like it and want to move then just leave already and stop complaining, no one probably likes you either.

  34. Supporter on August 28th, 2012 9:21 pm

Congrats mr. Bondurant. The best man was elected. Thank you for your hard work and dedication. It’s not easy being in the public eye. There will always be those that agree and disagree with every decision that is made. I hope the whole town and it’s citizens can work together to keep the town moving forward. Progress takes more than the mayor and council, it takes the community.

you have endured a lot of undeserved name calling and accusations, but you remained steadfast and calm. You are a person with a good heart, and soul; I wish you the best in the next 4 years, put these 4 behind you and press on, God speed and smooth sailing.
