Wife Waking Husband Leads To Pillow Fight, Felony Arrest

July 25, 2012

A Cantonment man allegedly became upset that his wife disturbed his sleep, leading to pillow fight and his arrest on a felony charge.

The victim told Escambia County Sheriff’s deputies that Dwayne Lanier Johnson, 50, became upset when she disturbed his sleep while getting ready for bed. She said Johnson began to hit her with a pillow and then grabbed her around the neck and choked her, and then threw her to the floor and choked her again.

Johnson told deputies that he did become upset when his wife disturbed his sleep. According to an arrest report, he admitted to throwing a pillow at her and then grabbing her in a bear hug and walking her toward the door.

Johnson was charged with felony domestic battery by strangulation. He was released from the Escambia County Jail on a $500 bond.

Guess we need to ban all pillows…or at least be required to take a pillow safety class.

Actually, Johnnie, there are THREE sides to every story. his, hers, and the Truth. :)

@ Johnnie You are correct…I stated MY opinion of Mr. Johnson and thats not a conviction. I leave that to the court to decide.

@me since you seem to know Mr. Johnson then I guess you also know the alledged victim, therefore you should know that there is far more to the story than what has been printed thus far. Again I say get all the facts before you convict someone based on your OPINION. Remember there are two sides to every story.

@ Johnnie Mr. Johnson has a VERY SHORT fuse! He’s also known to be very MOODY!! Im surprised something like this didn’t happen years ago.

This is so typical of the public convicting this man before the whole story is out. $500.00 because obviously the judge had no evidence she was choked but her word and we all know that might not be true. Domestic Violence is no joke but get all the facts before you open that offensive weapon known as your mouth!!

isn’t strangulation attempted murder ? 500 dollar bond is all ??

  9. joe on July 25th, 2012 1:05 pm

yes people are making jokes about this, and why not the legal system has treated it as a joke.
$500 bond? really, tell me that is not a joke, $500 bond for domestic battery.
the legal system is sending a message it is worse to possess drugs, or steal car parts than it is to abuse your spouse.
Our system is very broken and this shows just how bad!

Just goes to show… stay away from pillow fights. They start out all innocent and playful but end up with people getting strangled.

Mr Johnson you may love your wife, but it may be time to move on.

If this wasn’t so serious, it would be funny. But it is NOT a joking matter. I don’t know what else you could/would title the article due to what happened. I didn’t think the title was making a joke out of what happened at all, just stating the facts of what is IN the article.

I hit enter too soon…I’m appalled that this is being laughed at. William, even the title of the article

Are people here making a joke

This was probably something more deep rooted. You don’t just choke someone for accidentally waking you up. I’m thinking she probably had been putting the milk on the wrong shelf in the refrigerator or leaving the toilet seat down.
