July 6, 2012

Escambia County is currently resurfacing a portion of North Pine Barren Road. A gravel-embedded pavement from Highway 168 and south 0.6 miles is being resurfaced with asphalt. The roadway is a frequently traveled route to Northview High School. NorthEscambia.com photos, click to enlarge.

This entire road needs to be paved over, from 29 all the way to 168. I travel this road everyday and it is horrible.

Is Jenkins Road that starts out from Oak Shade and joins Pine Barren being repaved? Jenkins Road is nothing but loose gravel.

    REGARDING:
“Some areas of it need to crowned up in the middle. It’s the only road I’ve seen that’s lower in the center.”

I kind of like that feature. It is its own ditch.

    AND
“It’s about time! This road needs to be widened and repaved all the way from hwy 29 to the school.”

That WOULD be nice, from just above Pine Barren Creek all the way. and then if people would only limit themselves to the safe driving speeds…..

David for safer roads and drivers

Thanks to the guys doing the work. It is appreciated. :-)

It also needs to be repaved from Jenkins Road to where it meets Pine Barren. It is all gravel now and is very hard to stop at stop sign. This is not safe for the kids that do not know you have to slow down before you get to the stop sign. It is a curve right before you get to stop sign. I have lived in this area 40 years and i have went side ways on the loose gravel. it has also chips many wind shields. This road is used by many people to get to Northview , Atmore,Century and Canoe. Oak Shade has been repaved and is so much better.
