One Arrested: Traffic Stop Nets Nearly 2 Pounds Of Pot, Cash And A Gun

July 12, 2012

A Century traffic stop turned up nearly two pounds of marijuana, over $700 in cash, a gun and other drugs — landing one woman in jail.

Escambia County Sheriff’s deputies observed a suspicious vehicle pull behind a mobile home at 9520 Ivey Street in Century and later watched as two black males entered the trailer.

Inside the suspicious vehicle, deputies found Antoinette Johnae Thompson, age 23.

Also in the vehicle, deputies found a .22 caliber pistol, numerous bags containing a total of one pound, 13 ounces of marijuana, Percocet pills and $709 in currency, according to an Escambia County Sheriff’s Office report.

Deputies knocked on the front door of the mobile home for several minutes before the owner exited. She denied that two black males had entered the residence, despite a deputy observing them inside through an unobstructed window, the report states. The homeowner would not allow deputies to search the mobile home.

Thompson, according to the report, denied that the items in the rental car belong to her, and she denied knowing the names of the two men.

Thompson was charged with possession of marijuana over 20 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released from the Escambia County Jail on a $3,000 bond.

Richard I doubt if the narcs could have done much good. It is unlikely that these jokers have or know of a safehouse with a few hundred pounds stashed inside and I doubt if they were involved in production to amount to anything. I would bet these people are making runs to destinations in Texas and bringing back loads under 100lbs and dealing them out.

It is possible that the Narcs were busy frying bigger fish when these were caught. The DEA down at the fed building will talk to them about it, they have the jurisdiction to cover Texas and can cut a deal just as good as the locals. Great job ECSD.

The Deputies tried to get the drug unit to respond, but the supervisor of that unit told them they would look at it later and refused to respond. No telling where it may have lead them to that night if that supervisor would have cared about doing his job, or had an administration that encouraged supervisors to do their jobs. I’m sorry that blame rests squarely on the shoulders of David Morgan. You don’t have to look very hard to see why things have gotten bad in this county. Defend him if you want thats your decision, but he is ultimately responsible for his deputies and supervisors and their actions, or inactions in this case.

Pretty girl, hope she can be one of the lucky ones who turn their life around. You can do it!

    To solve the problem—-

    1. Legalize the drugs—get them out of the hands of the underworld–then–tax them as we do cigarettes and liquor. Let the state get the revenue—not the big time drug dealers.

    2. Stop playing cops and robbers. Either arrest the people or not. Too much inconsistency in enforching the law.

    3. Stop the welfare checks—go back to giving out food stamps instead. Free lunch and breakfast for the children—and food stamps to buy food only. If the government pays the rent—then pay direct to the landlord. NO ONE should be allowed to get cash with government debit cards. The kids are going hungry while mom and dad are spending the money on drugs and gambling.

    4. Drug testing should be required for all people on public assistance at least once a month. If they aren’t on drugs, they would not mind taking the test. People with jobs are required to take drug tests.

    5. Wake up world! There is no such thing as a free lunch! Somebody—the tax-payers are paying for this. What a mess ——-and by-the-way—–this is happening everywhere—NOT JUST IN CENTURY!!

when is ‘homo’ sapiens going to evolve into a more responsible and respectable species? It won’t. Not until it quits this. Really, drugs are not cool. It is not cool to ruin yourself. I wish people would have higher aspirations leading to a longer lasting fulfillment, not a high. These people don’t care about society. We need true citizens who do.

This report is public record, so any unanswered questions about why a trailer wasn’t searched or why A JUDGE set her bond at that amount could be answered. All it takes is a simple request! It doese take litlle more work than making comments on this story though!!

Doesn’t seem right that someone can refuse to let the cops check things out! We all have rights!!
    wow!

So I guess no one was in possession of the controlled medication ( percocet) nor the gun?

The homeowner might have been quoted as saying, “Who are you going to believe, me or your own, lying eyes?”

memyselfi is very correct, i too do not understand how her bail could be so low compared to the case you had mentioned. I hope this girl can straighten her life out, it seems she has the wrong friends and needs to be back on track, all we can do at this point in our society is pray for it and everyone else too!!

Don’t you just love how when they get caught red-handed, it simply isn’t theirs? They don’t know how it got their. I wouldn’t dare let two men in my home if I didn’t know them! At least one gun off the street that could have harmed an innocent person. Two pounds of marijuana that someone can’t make a dollar off of! Good job to the deputies who discovered this before any deal could go down.

I agree this is a beautiful girl she looks a lot better than most arrested for drug charges.

  14. memyselfi on July 12th, 2012 7:36 am

This is where the “LAWS” dont make sense to me . I read the other day where a girl borrowed a car and didnt return when suppose to and was arrested and under a $10,000 bond and this drug dealer with a gun and money caught red handed gets out on $3,000 bonds. Crazy!!!

Don’t you just love it when the sweet babies you carried on the bus to and from Century El and MS every day for years. Who were so kind and adorable. Grow up to be upstanding citizens?! Dang it! She’s a smart girl who had all kinds of potential. Makes me angry to see this happen.
