Certified Pile Burners Course Offered

July 24, 2012

Escambia County Extension and the Florida Forest Service will conduct a Certified Pile Burners Course on Wednesday, August 15.

This course will demonstrate how to burn piles legally, safely and efficiently. When the weather is dry, certified pile burners will receive priority for authorization to burn. Also, certified pile burners are allowed to burn up to two hours longer per day and get multiple day authorizations.

Registration is required to attend and the class size is limited. The cost is $50 per person. There will be a test at the end of the course; participants must receive a grade of 70 percent or higher on the exam and demonstrate a proper pile burn with the local FFS office to become certified.

This training will be held from 8:30 a.m. till 4:30 p.m. on August at the Langley Bell 4-H Center, 4810 West Nine Mile Road. Registration deadline is August 7.
