Boil Water Advisory For Some Central Water Works Customers
July 28, 2012
Central Water Works has issued a precautionary boil water notice for customers of Century and McDavid living in the areas of Bratt Road, Commalander Road, Cox Road, Holland Road and Roach Road due to a loss of pressure due to a water main break on Bratt Road at Canoe Creek.
This boil water notice has been rescinded. Read more…

Central Water Works released the following information:
What should I do?
As a precaution, we advise that all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dishes be boiled. A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient. As an alternative, bottled water may be used. Residents are also advised to take precautions when bathing, especially immunocompromised individuals, infants or the elderly.
What happened? What is being done?
A loss in system pressure could cause back-siphonage of contaminants, such as E. coli bacteria, into the water system. Water containing E. coli bacteria can be considered safe for drinking and cooking after vigorously boiling the water. Disease symptoms caused by these bacteria may include diarrhea, cramps, nausea, and possibly jaundice, and any associated headache and fatigue. The EPA has set an enforceable drinking water standard for E. coli to reduce the risk of these adverse health effects. Under this standard all drinking water must be free of these bacteria.
The water main break has been repaired. The water system is currently collecting samples to determine if the presence of E. coli bacteria exists within the water system. This precautionary boil water notice will remain in effect until a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink. The anticipated date for rescinding this notice is Monday, July 30, 2012

>>Is there still a boil water advisory?
We have not received any notice that it was lifted.
Is there still a boil water advisory? The customers were never properly notified that there was a boil water advisory, so I don’t anticipate them notifying customers if it is lifted.
Just great. A phone call would have been nice.

“I know you are on the board of directors for Central WW or something to do with them.
Nah, I got voted off by a two to one margin several years back.
” Everyone knows what pencil lead taste like.. All kids put their pencil in their mouth.”
Not everyone, because I didn’t and as Jesse Jackson says, “I am somebody.”
It must be good, though, if people stick it in their mouths more than once.

Don’t fool yourself to think other water companies don’t have people that complain regularly. There is nothing on this earth that everyone is happy with. Even free money, either its not enough or i’m not getting it.

I know you are on the board of directors for Central WW or something to do with them.. Naturally your going to say something good about them.. However, you must not have started writing with a pencil when you started to school.. Everyone knows what pencil lead taste like.. All kids put their pencil in their mouth.. And you can’t help but to smell it.. So you should know what it taste like.
There is nothing wrong with my water pipes or lines as to why we are always having problems with the water.. It’s not my job to take it down to the health department to see if something is being missed by the water quality tests.. And Central WW can’t tell me they are testing the water well. Because if they were, it would be good and I would not have to put it in jugs to remove impurities.. Other people on other Water systems never have a problem with their water.. And the water tower sitting near a cow field says it all..
@Upset, they would likely have to go up on your water bill to pay any fines.
A ADVISORY TWO DAYS AFTER THE FACT!!!! GREAT JOB CENTRAL WATER WORKS!!!!

Mine tastes good, but then I don’t know how pencil leads taste so maybe they are the same.
Still, you might check the water just as it comes out your meter to see if it good at that point. If it is, perhaps your lines are having problems. If it isn’t, you might want to take it down to the health department to see if something is being missed by the water quality tests.

I agree with you Upset.. I am very UPSET about this.. Central WW should have issued an advisory soon as they discovered a breach in their system, not one day following the repair of the leak. Seems like Central WW should be charged/fined for neglect.. Central WW has always had poor water.. I have had to always put our water in jugs to remove impurities due it it tasting like pencil lead.. Now this? And they still want us to pay for water that is contaminated? I think Central WW should not make us pay for water until this is resolved.. Besides, it isn’t our fault this happen and I am sure they would say it isn’t their fault either.. As much as we all pay for good clean water they should do what ever it takes to have it.. They are getting paid enough.. Now I have to waste electricity to boil water that I can not afford.. Central WW is the poorest water system ever to be known.. What will they do if people get sick and have to go to the Dr.? Central WW should have to pay the bill.. Soon as I have the money, I am putting down a pump.. At least I know it’s clean and safe..
This advisory should have been issued as soon as Central WW discovered they had a breach in their system, not one day following the repair of the leak. Seems like Central WW should be charged/fined for neglect.
