Northview Chief’s Neiko Robinson Commits To Penn State Nittany Lions

June 4, 2012

Northview High Schools’ Neiko Robinson has committed to the Penn State Nittany Lions.

Robinson, a 5-11, 170-pound safety, made the unexpected verbal commitment on the phone late Sunday night with Penn State coach Bill O’Brien after receiving the offer on Friday.

The rising senior is listed as the 18th best safety in Florida, according to Rivals.com.

Northview Coach Ty Wise says Penn State, Alabama, Florida State, the University of South Alabama, North Texas and Louisiana Tech were among the schools that visited Robinson or watched him practice at Northview.  The first offer Robinson received was from Penn State.

Robinson is a transfer from nearby Flomaton High School, where he help lead the Hurricanes to an 11-2 season last year.

@Art..and @john.i was wondering why Northview wasnt in a higher classification. Thanks for clearing that up for me.But even still..there is still people who think Northview can handle Flomaton??

  2. Art on June 7th, 2012 1:37 pm

    Enrollment per school.
    WS Neal 400
    TR Miller 378
    Flomaton-381 (I think it said that was 7th-12th grade,too)
    Atmore-555
    Northview-561
Even though Northview is 1-A they are the biggest High School in our area, because they play in a much bigger state. They would be a 4 or 5A in Alabama…..Just saying. Congrats to MR Robinson and good luck to you this season with the Chiefs!

  3. John on June 7th, 2012 1:16 pm

@JW. If Neal was a school in Florida, they would be a 1A school or maybe a 2-A.Florida schools are much bigger than Alabama schools for the majority so the way they classify are different. Northview would be a 4-A if they were an Alabama school.

There is a difference between 1A Chiefs and 4A W.S. Neal the Chiefs have been to the state semifinals the last two season thats speaks alot of what the Chiefs have going on they are winning games.

  5. jw on June 7th, 2012 2:35 am

Flomaton schedules 4A schools like W.S. Neal the past two years and you think they areafraid to play the 1A chiefs???lol

Congrats Neiko & Coach its Ryheem not Raheem & if Ryheem wants to be a Hurricane he will.. The choice is his not yours. Thank you very much & yes Neiko was apart of the Hurricanes last year & so happened to help you ole Cheifs out, & it you guys cant say nothing nice hush please ! & btw tFlomaton played Jay because its in their class & Northview is a little over & this year Flomaton can play Nothview if they would like too, & if it wasnt for the help of the coaches from Flomaton.. Nvm I rest my case, but Neiko was watched by coaches while he was at Flomaton too. Thank you he just so happened to help the Cheifs out.

Congrats, to Neiko! The secret is out! Everybody knows the best players from flomaton team last year was from century! Check their addresses! It’s funny how flomaton will play jay and not northview! Hey coach, what you afraid of? Bring the old century vs flomaton game back! It will be the biggest money game for both schools and communities! You can’t hide forever! Blackcats/northview pride!

Neiko, I live in Tallahassee, my brother lived in Escambia County. I am a Penn State grad and guarantee you will be glad you picked the Nittany Lions. The campus is in a rural valley and has a lot of country kids. Bill O’Brien also admired Joe Paterno, when he was growing up, and plans on carrying on Joe’s approach to football, high graduation rates and sportsmanship. (P.S. Known to be one of the prettiest campuses in the U.S.) Welcome.

@jw: I agree with you 100% Ol Mr Ryheem Dixon might as well Transfer over to Northview. He is orginally from Century and way. Boy that would be a Hell of a team if Dixon would Transfer..

Neiko is gonna be a tremendous help to this already awesome team at Northview.Im predicting a good year for the Chiefs.WR’s should be careful on their routes cause ol Neiko will ‘lay-you-out’ coming across that post and in route son!Excited for the Chiefs. And DB’s should be on their toes if hes lined up at wideout cause the kid has blazing speed. They got two awesome transfers in the Robinson brothers. Before the season ends the Floridas and Florida States and Alabamas and Miami’s will be trying to get Neiko to take back that verbal to Penn.Penn State is an awesome pick with great tradition though.Im so happy that Neiko is gonnea be able to have a football career.Good luck Neiko!

  21. jw on June 4th, 2012 4:05 pm

If thats true that the Flomaton Coaches didnt do anything as far as helping to get scouted and noticed thats unfortunate. There was alot of atheletes on that Flomaton team that deserved some recognition. There’s still one kid over there (Ryheem Dixon) who is just an awesome athelete that is well deserving of some big time offers if he can get some scouts down.I dont know if he has offers or not but like Neiko he is a tremendous athelete and somebody needs to take a look if they havent already at Mr Ryheem Dixon at Flomaton Highschool. If they’re not helping as far as help getting scouted then maybe Ryheem should transfer with Neiko. What a hell of a team that would be!Good Luck Neiko…and Good luck Ryheem Dixon and Lamichael Kyles and a bunch of other area guys.

  22. Century Blackcat on June 4th, 2012 2:33 pm

Good Luck Neiko.. I’m glad you came to Northview to finish your football career.. Flomaton coaches didn’t do you no good over there.. Northview coaches got scouts to come watch this kid during the spring. Something Flomaton coaches didnt do. Lookong forward to going to every Northview game this year. It should be a great year for them Cheifs. Keep up the good work Neiko.. Blackcat/Chiefs Pride.
