Northview FFA Food For America Named Best In Florida

June 29, 2012

The Northview High School FFA’s Food For America program was named the best in Florida Thursday during the 84th Florida FFA State Convention in Orlando.

The Northview Food for America Program gave hundreds of elementary school students a chance to learn about agriculture firsthand up close and personal with farm animals, farm equipment and more. About 800 elementary school students and about 100 volunteers took part in the program that featured over two dozen off-campus exhibitors.

The 2012 Food For America program was dedicated to Tommy Weaver, a beloved Northview teacher who passed away during the last school year.

The Food for America award is sponsored by the Florida Department of Agriculture.

Congratulations to Mr. Byars, FFA President Lydia Weaver, and all of the 2011-2012 FFA officers and membership. This award is great recognition for the Northvew program which brings to the spotlight not only the sponsor, membership, NHS staff, and local community but also the entire region. The Northvew FFA is definitely putting this wonderful area “on the map.” On behalf of the Northview “family,” I would like to commend not only Mr. Byars and the FFA officers and members but also the FFA Alumni organization, the community sponsors for all aspects of the program, the district support for the program, and the parents who have given the Northview FFA program the opportunity to provide such wholesome activities, such as Food For America, for their sons and daughters. It is truly awesome that this prestigious award, coveted throughout the entire State of Florida, has been earned by this amazing group of exceptional young adults. Good job. Well done.

Congratulations on a job well done. Hard work always pays off and never goes unnoticed. I still believe that FFA is one of the best over all well rounded organizations offered in schools today if they have the right instruct
or and northview does. I would encourage every parent to talked to their kids about FFA the leadership skills you learn will be with them forever.get involved it will be the best ride of your life.
