New Jobs: Two Area Family Dollar Stores Opening This Year

June 14, 2012

Construction is continuing on new Family Dollar stores in Century and Jay, with one store set to be open with a couple of months.

The Century store is scheduled to open in early August, and the Jay store should be open in time for the holidays, according to Josh Braverman, communications director for Family Dollar.

“We look forward to opening our stores in Century and Jay,” Braverman said.

Both the Century and Jay stores will average 8-10 employees. Applications will be accepted online at www.familydollar.com.

Family Dollar currently operates 7,200 stores in 45 states with about 50,000 team members.  The small format convenience and value retailer offers a mix of everyday use name brand products including food and paper products, household items, seasonal products, clothing and more.

I would also like to see some new stores or chain resturants. However, being a business owner in this close area I can tell you that most folks around here would NOT visit them. They all want them, but won’t spend the money to go to them!

Sad commentary that this is what has to pass for “New Jobs” News.

And also it bespeaks the fact of where many of us do more & more shopping these days- at low-cost, bulk retail outlet stores & mega-chains. Quantity “trumps” quality once more. Due to the sorry overall economic outlook.

Noooo, don’t tear down Moo’s station! Wouldn’t it be considered an historical site? Jay already has a Dollar General. Come on Jay Historical Society, fight for Moo’s station!!!

How about a Wal-Mart “Neighborhood Market” like in Gulf Breeze (not the Superstore in Tiger Point), locate that in Century, or somewhere near Hwy 4?! That would be good for all, I think.

You call working at a Dollar Store a job? Better to go into business for yourself at just about ANYTHING.

It’s not there yet. You will have to keep checking back from what I have been told.

I don’t know about Jay, but does the Flomaton/Century area REALLY need another dollar store?!?

Yes, just what our area needs, more dollar stores! LOL Seems that is all we ever get: dollar stores and drug stores! What I would love to see is a Walmart, or a Publix, a big farmer’s market, some nice restaurants like Applebee’s, Logan’s, Olive Garden, etc. Then we wouldn’t have to drive 50 miles to get to these kinds of places.

It is supposed to be at the corner of Hwy 4 and 89. Where Moo’s station is now. Next to SRFCU’s new office

Does anyone know the location’s address for the future Family Dollar store in Jay?
