June 18, 2012
Progress is continuing on a project to convert the old Molino School into a 15,600 square foot library, community center and museum. The facility is expected to be completed by November.

We are already having people come onto our property from the school and destroying things. They have no business being on our land and to protect my livestock, etc…. I will start doing what I have to do to protect them!!!!!!!!!!
I have contacted Kevin White about placing a fence, which is also one of there own ordinances that they seem to be choosing to ignore.
If this was someone else trying to open, they would not let them until all of the zoning rules have been met. So, I guess they had better not open until they meet there own rules!!!!
I hope everyone will remember to respect this facility and not use it for a “hang out”. This can be a good thing if all will remember to respect it and make appropriate use of it.
We are so excited!!! This is for all county residents to use plus visitors from elsewhere will be welcomed. It is a much needed facility and a beautiful one at that. We appreciate the county employees who have been instrumental in this.
This will be a big help to a lot of people in this area and I am so glad to see this! The first question I had when I came here was “why aren’t they using this beautiful old building for something useful, like a community center?”. I am so happy to see the progress made on this! Wonderful use of resources!
Yes there will be computers with internet connections in the adult ara, of course many many books, a childrens area with their computers, DVD’s to check out, Music CD’s to check out, magazines and newspapers. It is going to be a wonderful place for our community and I hope that every takes the time to use it. Anyone in the county can use the public libraries. They will help you get a libray card, show you where the items are that you are interested in and help in numerous ways, if it is information they don’t know then they will find someone who can get the information for you. Will be nice to have a building for the community to come together in. Friendly, local people who only want the best for our community. Can’t wait!
Is this community center/Library open to all residents of Bratt and Walnut Hill?
@ JH, there currently isn’t a town hall, although there used to be one back in the early 1900’s, it was located on present day brickyard road that believed to have been in front of the old jails in Molino. Check out http://www.oldmolino.org. It’s the local historical society’s website, it might help you out. There is also a previous story on this site, just go to the search box and type in: “there’s a lesson in there some where” and you will see the story of old molino jail, it tells about the story of the old jail and some information about the town itself.
I live near the Pensacola Airport. My family loves to go on mini road trips (200 miles or less) to check out new places, and historical sites. I would love to come and check this out when its finished. Does Molino have a town center? We’ve driven past it many times, but have not seen any signs indicating where a “Main Street” might be. Or is this the beginning stages in developing one?
So glad to see the progress being made at old Molino School. When it is finished it will be a real asset to the north end. Hopefully they will be able to install computers in the library for the public to use. We have many people who need access to computersbut cannot afford to own one. Any progress in the north end is greatly appreciated.
