Cantonment Woman Busted For Planting ‘Cute’ Pot Plants

June 11, 2012

A Cantonment woman has been charged with planting three marijuana plants because, she told deputies, they were “cute”.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office discovered three marijuana plants growing near a no-name trailer park on Tate School Road not far from Tate High School.

Tommi Marie Schneider, 34, told deputies that she found the plants already pulled from the ground along nearby railroad tracks. She admitted to deputies that she knew the plants were illegal marijuana but planted them anyway near her mobile home lot.

According to an arrest report, Schneider said she did not know why she planted the marijuana plants other than she thought they were “cute”.

The marijuana plants were seized as evidence, and Schneider was booked into the Escambia County Jail on felony charged of producing marijuana.

    REGARDING:
    “No, you’re opinion isn’t legitimate.”

Not under your definition, no. But your definition requires usage to hold a legitimate opinion. I showed where that would be a silly requirement by giving examples which anyone would already hold an opinion as to the lack of wisdom of doing or usage.

There was a lady a few years back who was growing opium poppies because they were so pretty. She was selling the seeds to other flower lovers.

Since they were EXACTLY the same flowers used to produce as opium, morphine, heroin, codeine and others, feds shut her down. If people would not use such things, they would be better off. If they insisted on using such things, they should know imported varieties fund terrorists and dictators.

The only way pot leads to other drugs is if you run out and can’t find anymore.

Sorry David, you’re not half as clever as you think you are.

I’ll only tackle your post from one angle, and it’s simply this:

You’re comparing having an opinion about pot to having an opinion about killing people? Taking cyanide? Eating glass?

    No, you’re opinion isn’t legitimate.

I know Tommi, she just had a lapse of judgement , she is not a BAD person. Why don’t they arrest real criminals.

Oh golly gee. I’m so glad this vicious gangster is off the street! Oh thank you sheriff. I’m scared just looking at her picture. We will all sleep safer tonight.

    REGARDING:
“If you’ve never smoked pot then you have no legitimate opinion about it.
    Period.”

Please consider just how silly a statement that is.

If you HAVE smoked it, you only know how it affected you, assuming you remember. You know whether you liked it or not.

That does not mean you can not hold a legitimate opinion based on legitimate sources of information. You could have observed how others behaved while under its influence as well as how they behaved as the effects wore off.

You could have an opinion based on other criminal activities it finances and the associated murders. I admit these are caused by the demand coupled with the ban but they DO exist.

But most important, substitute some other activity or substance:

“If you’ve never tried cyanide, then you have no legitimate opinion about it.
    Period.”

“If you’ve never killed a helpless victim, then you have no legitimate opinion about it.
    Period.”

“If you’ve never swallowed broken glass, then you have no legitimate opinion about it.
    Period.”

“If you’ve never stared into the sun for an hour, then you have no legitimate opinion about it.
    Period.”

I’m pretty sure all those are more harmful than smoking, but unless your brain’s messed up by some substance, you can see that they are faulty statements.

    David for allowing opinions
but disagreeing if think they’re wrong

OMG why did she say it was hers ….She must be proud it could have been anyones in the trailer park or just sprouted up depending how large. If this is the same little park right down the road from the school it is not a supriseits always had things going on.

I think Auburn AND Alabama suck though I’ve never watched one of their football games. Is my opinion legitimate?

Oh yeah, it’s a great idea to spend time and resources prosecuting the lady with three scraggly “pot” plants growing in her garden! BRAVO! Here here! I feel safer already, knowing this lady won’t be peddling drugs to my little bumpkin chillins!

Don’t agree with it’s use but think of all the money the government could make taxing it, and it would loosen the hold the cartels have trying to sell it here. Then they could bust people for being high and give them a huge fine. Hmmmm….just clowning around!

I hope they go easy on Ms Schneider, its not like she was in cammos with and M4,
up in La Foresta sitting on a thousand plants.

  14. molino jim on June 11th, 2012 4:34 pm

@ David– do you recall a few years ago there were some “nice plants” growing in the planters in front of the John Pace Library at UWF? Some student planted a few seeds and they came up— those 4H’ers are always trying to help others out by “green cropping”.

  15. Dan on June 11th, 2012 3:06 pm

In the great state of Florida Steal billions become Governor .Grow a pot plant become a felon.

  23. Derek on June 11th, 2012 10:39 am

To be sure, marijuana plants are beautiful, though I HIGHLY doubt that’s the reason she was growing them. In any case, I can’t wait until we stop wasting tax-payer dollars by throwing marijuana users and growers in the tank – if anything, this young lady was helping to curb the cartels.

  24. someguy on June 11th, 2012 10:16 am

Although, the plant is quite beautiful when flowering.

  25. someguy on June 11th, 2012 10:13 am

“Because it’s illegal it “leads to other drugs””

With that reasoning; because going 5mph over the speed limit is illegal, speeding will most assuredly lead to other forms of reckless driving, street racing, and grand theft. Get a life!

  26. faithbe! on June 11th, 2012 9:36 am

In reality, pot can lead to stupidity, like planting some in your yard because they’re cute.
Because it’s illegal it “leads to other drugs”, due to dealers dabbling in the other, higher profit illicit substances. If pot were legal, there would be no market for it’s cheap and far more harmful imitator–spice.

  27. jeeperman on June 11th, 2012 9:08 am

So….we are paying Deputies to walk around near trailer parks looking for illegal things and they just happen to see three weeds ?

Gotta love me some Cantonment! My neighbors are never short on surprises.

  29. Mark on June 11th, 2012 8:34 am

Blueboy, you keep drinking that Kool Aid. By your reasoning, cigarettes and alcohol should be considered “gateway” drugs as well.

  30. paul on June 11th, 2012 8:11 am

It’s a shame when one can buy known killers like cigarettes and alcohol with no problem and a little natural plant will get you thrown in jail.

  31. Paul Johnson on June 11th, 2012 7:27 am

And exactly what harm to anyone did these plants cause? I vote for freedom!

  35. blueboy on June 11th, 2012 2:14 am

Please let this be an eye opener for you and get yourself together. Pot can lead to crack, meth, spices, and bathsalts ect.

Please get it together before it too late, you can be helped

what a lame excuse!!! they were cute,,,there is no worry that I would grow pot..first it is wrong and second.. I kill silk flowers… what was in this poor girls mind…now she knows she will never be a farmer…and it will cost her time and money …I wonder if she thinks the plants are still cute…I think not.
