Baldwin County High Speed Chase Ends At Atmore Business, Suspect Tased

June 29, 2012

A man was tased in the parking lot of an Atmore business at the end of a high speed chase across parts of two counties Thursday afternoon — with his three children in the vehicle.

Chris Edward Lambeth, age 34 of Bay Minette, was charged with possession of a chemical compound/salvia, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, attempting to elude, three counts of reckless endangerment, and multiple traffic offenses. He remained in the Baldwin County Jail early Friday with bond set at $10,500.

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy was running radar on County Road 61 in Perdido when a red van passed the deputy’s  patrol car at 60 mph in a 35 mph zone. The deputy initiated a traffic stop, but then Lambeth  gained speed and a chase began.

Lambeth crossed into Escambia County (Ala.) and continued on James Road until he was blocked by a train. At that point, he turned into a field and backtracked his van to Highway 31 where he ran a stop sign and was almost hit by traffic, according to Major Antony Lowery, spokesperson for the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies from Escambia County (Ala.) also joined in the chase.

The chase continued along Highway 31 into Atmore at speeds up to 100 mph. Lambeth then turned on Industrial  Drive in Atmore where he turned into the parking lot of the ESCOFAB manufacturing company. The three children in the van then ran inside the business where their mother worked.

Lowery and Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Mike Lambert said Lambeth resisted arrest and was tased. Lambeth told deputies several times that he was trying to kill himself and that he did not want to go back to jail, Lowery said.

Lambeth also had outstanding warrants in Baldwin County on additional charges.

Lambeth will likely face more charges related to the high speed chase in Escambia County, Ala., Lambert said.

    CONSIDERING:
“So, if he were trying to kill himself, does that mean he was trying to kill his kids too?”

Good point. it certainly reads that way if he actually said, “Lambeth told deputies several times that he was trying to kill himself ”

Maybe he’ll reconsider or maybe he’ll succeed next time. We’ll just have to wait and see.

    David for safe children

I would like for Chris Edward Lambeth, age 34 of Bay Minette, his supporting family, friends and girlfriends to read this. BEFORE YOU BAIL HIM OUT —-AGAIN!!!! My son-in-law was one of the officers involved in the chase. Not only did this man put those 3 childrens life in danger, HE could have cost my daughter, her husband. My grandchildren, their father. My friends, their son. And my husband and I, a great son-in-law. And the BCSO, a great officer.
These young men are under-paid and over-worked. They have a target on their back from the time they put on that uniform, and get in the car. They NEVER know what they will walk up on when they stop a vehicle, or go to a call of domestic violence. At the end of the day, they just want to go home to their families.
And I personally have seen 2 officers in the Perdido area on a regular basis.
So before you bail Chris Edward Lambeth, age 34 of Bay Minette,Al. out of jail AGAIN, just think of the lives he would have destroyed because of his drug use, and lack of respect for the human life.

BCSO has been in Perdido and doing a very well job on trying to get people to obey the law. I am glad they caught Mr. Lambeth and glad the kids are safe.

    Bail… $10.500……is that a mistake or joke.
It should be $200K or more.
    Is Nobles the “Judge”

I live on County Rd 47 just before you get to county Rd 61. It is very seldom any kind of police is out here. Sure wish we had some kind of acting police in this area like Nathan Hall was yrs ago. Sure would not be all these speeders in Perdido that we have now. Too many going the same speed this guy was going EVERY day and night.

Thanks to Kimberly, for her heart felt comments.

Zoe, I am praying for all of you also. Some people say things when they are upset without knowing all the facts. I hope you can forgive them and not become bitter. They need prayer too. The world has become a very frustrating place. But, like Kimberly said, God does love you. I hope and pray you can put this behind you, and discover God’s purpose for you in this world. Never doubt that God has you here for a purpose. All of you.

@zoe creamer- I wanted to try and explain that sometimes when adults hear of stories like this involving children, it is very upsetting and things may be said in haste, not thinking that the family members may read the comments. A lot of times, things end in tragedy. I am so grateful to God that you and the others are at least physically OK. I think that you are a brave young lady to come to your mommy’s defense and I am sure that she is very proud of you. I hope that you know that none of this is your fault. You are a child of God and you are loved. You and your entire family are in our thoughts and prayers sweetheart!

Zoe, I’m glad that yall kids are all safe and glad to hear that your mom has made a great decision to rid herself and her children from such a person as chris! I’m sorry it took a terrifying experience for the children to bear to get this outcome but something good came out after all, yall are rid of him now!!!

I am the mother of these three girls. I am a GOOD Mother to them. I did not know what was going to happen and did all I could do to get them away from him. He was atleast nice enough to bring them to me. He is selfish and did not think about anyone but himself. He had several chances to stop. I was on the phone with my children and him telling him to stop. He has never done anything like this before or I would not be with him. I bet alot of you talking about me and what you would do could sweep around your own door. Neglect is not something you have to worry about with my children. They have always been provided for and loved unconditionally. It is so easy to throw stones when it is not happening to you. I hope none of you have to experience what my children and I had to.

Ok.. this is one of the daughters that was in the car with Chris.. i just wanted to say that my mommy isn’t bailing him out and so if y’all want to say something about my momma then take it up with her because we r tired of this stuff so just leave us alonae and just keep your comment to yourself.. it was his fault so he is paying his time

Another van running from a police vehicle. Come on now you ain’t getting far.

That makes it sound like SHE KNEW HE COULD NOT BE TRUSTED, so maybe
it’s time to CHARGE HER with child endangerment. This stuff makes my wife and I very angry, because some people can’t have children and other’s have them but don’t care about them.

  15. Keep him this time!! on June 29th, 2012 7:32 am

I saw this chase happening and this dude is an Idiot!! They need to add more charges to this guy, he almost lost control coming across an area in where several kids were playing!! Bet , he’ll be out today because the mom of those kids bail him out every time!! Glad they got him!!! Now, keep him!!

  16. No one special on June 29th, 2012 6:55 am

They weren’t his kids. But it makes me wonder why he isn’t being charged with child endangerment? Seems like that ought to be the least he could be charged with after almost killing the kids with a high speed chase, not to mention having the drugs around them. I know one thing, if a guy I dated ever pulled a stunt like this with my kids, he’d be safer in jail! Hope the mother does the right thing, and dumps this loser.

I have never seen the law on 61 and I travel it from the 112 junction through Phillipsville, Perdido on into Lottie regulary, good to see some coverage.

I am glad we do not have to worry about Mr Lambeth driving like a maniac on those back country roads. It is a shame Bay minette could not have kept the old jail, I believe it had more powerful correctional qualities.

So, if he were trying to kill himself, does that mean he was trying to kill his kids too?
