Atmore Man Charged With Stabbing His Mother

June 1, 2012

A man that allegedly stabbed his own mother following a dispute over money is behind bars.

Dayshawn Dixon, age 27, of Atmore, was charged with domestic violence first degree and booked into the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton following the late night incident.

About 11:34 p.m. Thursday, the Atmore Police Department responded to a stabbing call on East 4th Street. They discovered that Dayshawn Dixon had allegedly stabbed his mother, 46-year old Kimberly Dixon, in the chest.

According to witnesses, Dayshawn Dixon became upset that his mother would not give him $200 from his Social Security check, so he retrieved a kitchen knife and stabbed her.

Kimberly Dixon was transported to Atmore Community Hospital by private vehicle. She was treated and released.

I would think that him being in jail will make him ineligible for receiving a Social Security check. Maybe someone should check on that.

    REGARDING:
“ and there is more to the story”

Don’t just leave us hanging, you aren’t limited to just 18 words. Tell us the rest of the story and why him stabbing her is perfectly reasonable.

To those who mentioned him being on Social Security at 27, we can’t judge that like you may think. I personally served 6 years in the U.S. Army, was injured, got out at 23 and was already permanently and totally disabled. Thanks to our beauracracy, it took me 7 years to actually get the VA and Social Security benefits I was entitled to, but by the age of 30 I was already on Social Security myself. Please don’t judge without knowledge of the situation at hand. I’m sure not one of you would criticize me for being on Social Security at 24, had the system worked as it should, for being permanently disabled while serving my country.

Probably wanted that $200 for recreational fun……. His mother was probably footing all his food and shelter bills and was tired of keeping up his sorry self.

    Wish her a speedy recovery.

@baebae – are you promoting a life of crime? How sad the way some of our citizens think.

Why is a 27 year old man getting a social security check?????????? Why can’t he get training and get a job?????? To many people wanting people to work and they will not work, if they don’t get paid $30.00 an hour……get a job making $8.00 or so an hour and work up……I had to do that, why can’t others…….

Wow… I cnt believe he did that to the person that gave birth to him, he should be appreciating her and thanking her, rather than stabbing her! That completely Ridiculous!!!! I hope she is okay, and i will be praying for her and her family.

If you need money, get a job, don’t be stabbing momma in the chest. Do you not have any respect for the woman who brought you into this world.

It will be interesting to hear the rest of this story. I do not think we have it all yet. He has to be one sick puppy and a despirate one to do that to the one who breought him in this world and raised him. Maybe he will get some help of which it appears he needs and just maybe a new address to boot.
    You are sick man!
