Three Injured, Two Charged After Wreck

May 30, 2012

Three people were injured in a two vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on Old Palafox (Highway 95A) near Floral Tree Gardens in Gonzalez.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 59-year old Grover L. Holley, Jr, of Pensacola, pulled his 1998 Pontiac out of a business entrance into the path of a 1998 Chevrolet Lumina driven by 21-year old Ashleigh M. Strickland of Pensacola. The collision forced both vehicles into a paved crossover to Highway 29.

Strickland, her unrestrained 3-year old passenger, and Holley received only minor injuries. All three were transported to Sacred Heart Hospital following the 2 p.m. crash.

Holley was charged with violation of right of way, while Strickland was charged with failure to display a driver’s license and improper child restraint, according to the FHP.

Perfectly good pre-owned car seats are available in the thrift shops and road side sales all over this town for just a few dollars, there is really no excuse
for risking this babies life. All we can hope is that this mother has now learned
    a valuable lesson.

If she needs a car seat for her child I would be happy to go buy her one. I’m assuming this was the reason for improper restraint. Not the fact that she obviously doesn’t put her child’s safety first. I’m just glad there were no serious injuries.

    >>Why if no one was seriously hurt was life flight called?

The injuries to all three were minor, according to the FHP report.

LifeFlight was called for one patient. I believe it had to do with the type of injuries and a pre-existing medical condition of one individual, but I am not sure.
