May 3, 2012

A Wednesday holdup at a Cantonment  restaurant is under investigation.

A robbery was reported at the Subway sandwich shop in the 1500 block of South Highway 29, next to Winn Dixie, about 10 p.m.  Escambia Count Sheriff’s deputies were on scene within moments after the robbery report, and a K-9 was reportedly used to search for a suspect.

There was no word from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday night if anyone had been taken into custody in connection with the reported robbery. Additional details have not been released.

No body claims to be an expert, Sheriff Morgan is the individual who is responsible for the placement of manpower and resources in this county. He has removed resources from the north end when crime is on the rise. The public has been mislead, being told that crime is down when it’s not. You tell me 429SCJ, don’t you find it a little strange that the FDLE crime reports are out showing that crime is up when Sheriff Morgan told us it is down and not one word of this has been published by PNJ? The public was also told that the budget is lower when in fact it has increased every year since 2009 when he took office. All you have to do to verify this is visit the clerk of the court who holds this information as public record. Elected officials shouldn’t mislead the public it doesn’t take an expert to know when that is happening.

I find it disturbing that Sheriff Morgan is the cause of the rising crime rates.

I do take comfort in knowing we have all these experts, with all the solutions.

Both the Century and Cantonment stations are already down two Deputies each that were never replaced. Now the Lieutenant in charge of Cantonment is being moved to a desk job in town with no plans to replace him. What ’s happening in the north end is only a small part of what’s going on in the south end of Escambia County. If the problem isn’t addressed soon you can expect the same problems in the near future. Rest easy citizens of the north end I’m sure a “clean sweep” is being planned for a location somewhere in the north end to rid our community of trash, not criminals, real trash.

Unfortunetly Cantonment is slowly being infested with criminals. it is the beginning of the end.

I have been saying for three years now that crime was coming our way. I’ve also said that due to the calls for service, our fine Sheriff doesn’t see the need for any other Officers up here. Well, how many shootings, robberies etc do we need to have before he puts anyone else up here. They just took the Lt we had up here and there are no plans to replace him. We elected him in office, can we please elect him out now. Why should we have to wait until our neighborhoods are over ran with crime before we get more Officers? We only have two per shift right now to cover from West Roberts Rd to about McDavid and to Dogwood Park and over to the Santa Rosa line. God help you if you live in Dogwood Park and have an intruder in your home and the two Officers are on a DV call down on Kingsfield. Please vote Powell in August.

I’m sorry this has happened to you. And that some-one some-where knows something and can help the police catch them.
