Beer Truck Becomes A Bit ‘Tipsy’, Overturns On Nine Mile Road
May 4, 2012
There were no injuries when an 18-wheeler hauling Bud Light beer became a little “tipsy” on West Nine Mile Road near Beulah Friday morning.
For an unknown reason, the 18-wheeler overturned onto its side as the driver exited from I-10 to West Nine Mile Road. The driver, 51-year old Antonio Purifoy of Cantonment, was taken to West Florida Hospital with minor injuries.
Purifoy was cited by the FHP for careless driving.
The accident happened about 8:25 a.m. and caused traffic delays four about eight hours, according to FHP.

HI Cheryl,
Thanks for your post! We have a lot of very impatient drivers in our area. My wise old father alwyays used to tell me to be careful of what I did when I was driving, and to expect everyone else to do something stupid. That advice has saved my hide and the hides of my driving children many a time. He also said that if you took the average NW Florida driver and put all of them in Washington, DC or any other major city (like Atlanta) for a week, that 90% of them would not come home. It takes skill to drive, not just the passing of some test and getting your picture taken!
“Unexplained Reason!” Do the right thing and come forward and accept responsibiltiy for your part in this. That poor man does not deserve a citation for your stupidity and impatience!
It was not an “unknown” reason. He made a wide turn and some woman in a car came up on the right side of him trying to beat him out onto 9 Mile Road. He swerved to keep from hitting her. She never even stopped. She just kept going! She knew she screwed up major time! They were actually giving away the beer in the unbroken cases.
I wouldn’t drive a truck that just tips over for unknown reasons.
they were still picking up cases at 4:08 pm
I will glady help sort the cargo if i can keep the unopened bent cans
A fitting end for a foul beer.
I THINK HE GOT A LIL’ TIPSY
FREE BEER!!!!!! lets build a fire and crack the tops and watch them do the hard work just make sure they dont take the BEER!!!!
Party foul!
“Someguy” you crack me up!
That’s what I’d call “alcohol abuse!”
An unknown reason most definitely could not have been speed. No, it sure couldn’t have been that he was going too fast for the ramp. Never!
