Work Continues On New Family Dollar In Century

April 29, 2012

A construction project is continuing on a new Family Dollar store in Century.

The 8,000  square foot discount retail store will be located at 9441 North Century Boulevard — that’s at the corner of North Century Boulevard and Green Street. The site was last occupied by Royal Pizza and Subs, which was destroyed by fire in July 2008. Prior to that, the property housed a barbecue restaurant.  The 1.22 acre lot is located just south of the Food Giant grocery store.

There’s no word yet on the number of jobs the business will provide, or when the discount store will open.

Family Dollar currently operates 6,800 stores in 44 states. Other Family Dollar Stores in the North Escambia area are located in Davisville, Cantonment, Pensacola and Atmore.

LOL…I bet all the people who posted slightly negative comments about building this family dollar store, will be the first ones checking out when it opens up. I’m just hoping that they keep it clean, stocked and organized, unlike many of the others in the surrounding area.

There’s a big nice piece of land on the outskirts of Century, a perfect place for a big shopping center for the North end of the County. Sure wouldn’t mind a Wendy’s, Taco Bell or Sonny’s Bar-b-que. (Hint-Hint) ;)

You don’t just PUT somethiung somewhere…someone or a company has to invest the money to open a business, whether it’s an individual or a corporation. They usually do research on the area to see what will go over well there, and it seems like the Dollar Stores are the only thing willing to come to small areas. It’s not as easy as it looks to open a new buisness. Several people will benefit from this store opening as it will create jobs for a few, it will also help the power and water companies. Anything new in any area is good, reguardless of what it is.

we sure didn’t need another one one of these stores. why not build something better…….that space could have been used to build something that people could go to and have fun because this place needs something way better than another store.

I vote GROCERY STORE, a real store! A store that actually sells things we need at fair prices! Gee we haven’t had one of those in Century for years!
