Vernie Edward “Shorty” Tyree

Mr. Vernie Edward “Shorty” Tyree, 60, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at his home in Atmore.

Mr. Tyree was a native of McCullough, AL, and has called Atmore home for the past 14 years. Mr. Tyree owned and operated Edward Tyree Trucking Company. He attended Presley Street Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Vernie Lee “Snooks” and Eloise Lassitter Tyree.

He was survived by his wife Linda Powell Tyree of Atmore; two daughters, Brandy Tyree Myrick (Mike) of Robinsonville, and Elizabeth Tyree Godwin (Douglas) of Milton; one brother, Robert Eugene Tyree (Patsy) of Flomaton; two sisters, Annice Tyree Atwell (Don) and Pam Tyree Riddlehoover (Billy) both of Dothan; two grandchildren, Phillip Michael Myrick and Morgan Alexis Myrick.

Funeral services were held Saturday March 31, 2012, at 2:00 p.m.. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Grindle officiating.

Burial followed at the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitation was held Friday March 30, 2012  at the Petty Eastside Chapel.

Pallbearers were Doug Parker, Hub Wilson, Jimmy Brown, Richard Brown, Joe Barber and Gary Brown.

Honorary Pallbearers were Steve Luker, Bob Croft and Taylor Boothe.
