Brothers Charged In Burglaries After 3rd Brother Calls Cops
April 11, 2012
Two brothers were busted for stealing guns and breaking into vehicles after their other brother snitched to deputies.
Gerald Stewart called the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office to say that his two brothers were burglarizing vehicles in the area of North Spencerfield Road. Deputies found 23-year old Travis Lee Stewart and 19-year old Dylan Ray Stewart exiting a vehicle that had just been burglarized. The two brothers fled on foot; both were taken into custody a short time later.
Deputies said when they searched the suspects, they found a .45 caliber handgun, flashlights, money, sunglasses and other items taken from vehicles in the area. Investigators said the brothers tried to enter every vehicle on one street, finding just three that were unlocked.
Travis and Dylan Stewart were each charged with two felony counts of burglary, armed burglary, three counts possession of burglary tools, two counts grand theft of a firearm and two counts of petit theft.
After they arrived at the jail, the third brother called deputies back to say that he had located another firearm in Travis and Dylan’s bedroom. The .40 caliber handgun was reported stolen in 2011. Travis and Dylan Stewart admitted to deputies that they took the gun during a 2011 burglary.

Jerald;
You hold your head up high-you done exactly what we ALL need to do when put in this situation. You were being a responsible sibling and parent. GOD BLESS YOU for your honesty!
Hopefully this will teach your brothers a lesson and they will come out better because of you. Most petty crimes turn into more serious crimes, so I believe you probably saved their lives in a sense.
WE ARE PROUD OF YOU!!!
Jerald, may God bless you for being man enough to do the right thing as bad as it hurt you. I pray that God uses this to turn your brother’s lives around and that you will never be placed in this position again. May God give you peace in your heart and complete protection for you and your son. Great job!
Bless you, Mr. Stewart! If it weren’t for snitches a lot more crimes would go unsolved.
This took a lot of courage on your part. Hopefully they will thank you some day. I thank you now. You’re a hero!
I, too, am disappointed in the word “snitched” simply because of the negative connotations.
But whatever – great job, Mr. Stewart… thanks for looking out for your family and mine.
@J Stewart, I do not blame you one bit sir. If I had my children in the home living with me I would not want this thief/guns and who knows what else in my house either.
Your children come first. Maybe your brothers will get their acts together before it is to late for them.
call me a snitch if u want i did what i thought was right.our parents are dead and they live with me.im sorry to the community and everyone they harmed.thanks to everyone for all the support,as much as i do LOVE my brothers and how hard i was to do this i love my 2 yr old son who sleep in the next room to theres even more.
This is why vehicles have locks, and this is why you don’r leave anything of value in your vehicle! Thanks for doing the right thing and turning them in!!!
to Websters:
tattled is no better than snitched, you seem to think that this is a petty squabble, as someone who has been burglarized twice i appreciate this man doing the right thing, and i don’t appreciaate your making it sound like a some sort of schoolyard issue
Thank you “BIG” brother. It takes a BIG person to do what you did. I am proud of you. Always stand for what is right!!! That takes backbone, and you have it. We need more people like you in the world!!!
snitch is a good thing if it protects others
silence is a bad thing if it hurts others
snitch — to inform, especially about another’s wrongdoing; to tattle
Seems like a very appropriate use of the word ’snitched’ in this story. That’s exactly what he did. You act like snitched is some dirty word. It’s not. Brothers tattle on each other.
Why did you say “snitched”? The writer should not ever do that again – the brother thought enough of his community, his family (yes, his family), and others, to report their behavior! I still can’t believe a “professional writer” said “snitched”! BAD.
This freaks me out a little. I don’t live far from there. I never lock my doors to my vehicles. Guess I will rethink this from now on. I hate a thief!
I don’t think “snitched” should be used in this article. The third brother did the right thing and I am sure it was hard to turn his own brothers in. The word “snitched” makes it sound like he did something wrong. Thank you “third brother” for doing the right thing!
I would like to thank the brother that turned them in. I am sure that he express his disapproval to them first. Anyway, I have had my truck broke into twice and it makes me angry.I have no use for thieves.
OR…..the three brothers could be roommates. If they were living in the parents’ home, the older brother probably wouldn’t have been searching the other two’s bedroom.
Don’t always be so quick to judge the parents, Resident.
Kuddos to brother #3!!! They obviously still live at home (since they’re still sharing a room) and since the parents weren’t doing their job, little brother decided to do his! Took a lot for him to do that.
“snitched”? How about , cared enough to do the right thing.
