Armed Woman Shot By Escambia Deputy

April 22, 2012

A woman was hospitalized after being shot by an Escambia County deputy Friday night.

Deputies responded to a disturbance at the Fairfield Villa  Apartments about 10:30 p.m. where they found a woman outside an apartment waving a gun. She was warned multiple times to put the weapon down, but refused. Deputies were reportedly threatened, and she was shot.

Neighbors said the woman had been arguing with a man over about $15 in babysitting money. She allegedly swung a stick at the man before returning to her apartment and retrieving the gun.

The names of the deputy and the woman have not been released, nor has the condition of the woman.

The officer involved shooting is under investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Further details have not been released.

Great job Deputy!! So tired of folks thinking they can be aggressive and nothing will happen to them. If more trash was shot, this would stop!!

Sounds like this “woman” wanted to get shot. When an armed deputy is telling you to put the gun down, and you refuse, prepare to recieve lead.

Sounds like the deputy has a good case for “stand your ground”.
