Man Using Leaf Blower Hit By Car

An Escambia County man was critically injured when he was hit by a car while using his leaf blower.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 61-year old William Gorey was operating a leaf blower while standing on the edge of Cedar Lake Drive. Gorey then stepped into the path of a 2011 Toyota Camry driven by 47-year old Chancey Smith of Pensacola.  Gorey was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

No charges were filed in the accident.

    What a terrible thing to happen too Mr. Gorey and family and to Mr. Smith and family. You can’t hear over a leaf-blowe, and you don’t expect people to step into traffic. I hope Mr Gorey makes a well and fast recovery. As for Mr Smith, I hope you are not charged. Accidents happen to nice people as well.

    Wow..just when you think you have heard it all…then a freak accident like this..Hope the guy gets OK…life deals a bad hand from time to time…I hate to read about stuff like this…it could happen to any of us
