My best friends are cousins of the victim. This is such a sad thing to happen. My heart and prayers go out to the families, especially to his brother who I have been told came up on the wreck and had to identify him. May God be with all of you during this time and May you find some type of comfort in knowing he did not suffer.

Why such the fuss. Its Flomaton you cant do nothing without everone hearing about. People had rather gossip and carry own. How would they feel if it was there child and it was them in there shoes.

Why is everyone worried about posting a pic of a wreck, when the name was NOT released yet? Does it truly matter?? This is my bestfriend, that I lovely dearly and is gone now. Lets just pray for the family and stop worrying about the politics of the situation. That is so stupid and childish!

  8. Friend on March 3rd, 2012 11:37 am

Why dont you people stop arguing about who or how the family is notified and go bow your head and pray for his wife, pray for his 1 year old child and pray for his mother.

    Praying for this family.
My husband was killed in an auto accident in 1976, His death had already been on the news before I was notified, I was a little shocked when I called home to tell my parents and found out the whole community already knew.
Word spreads fast in a small town, People are generally connected in one way or another. School, Church, civic organizations. So please remember that others may have heard before you, but that gave them the opportunity to be there for you just a little bit faster.

I am so heartbroken over this. I went to school with him and he was the guy who was always smiling and wanted to make you laugh. He was a pure joy to be around. My heart goes out to his wife and family, a loss is never easy to deal with. I have heard someone held him and prayed over him until the authorities arrived, I would personally like to thank this person for being a kind spirit and person of God. I know he is in a better place and he is now resting in peace.

I agree people shouldn’t put stuff like that on the internet at least wait a day or two and give the family time to find out about their loved ones through the proper channels. i think this website did not cross the line at all posting the story they withheld the name and i did not see it on here till this morning so everyone on here please quit bashing william i think he does a very good job keeping people up to date with all surrounding communities news better than mobile,p’cola, atmore advance and atmore news websites he keeps this one updated regularly throughout the day and does it tastefully.

    @safebear

I did not ASSUME anything. It was a first responders wife that had it on Facebook and yes, she did get her info from her husband.

A few years ago, on my birthday, my family member was killed and it was on the news before the police notified us. All of our neighbors were calling us to see we knew and to offer condelences. It’s horrible. So sad for this young person and his family. praying for you

Thoughts and prayers to the family and loved ones, sorry for your tragic loss…

  15. kb on March 3rd, 2012 8:44 am

Cut William some slack….He always does an excellent job with the local news. The fire department in this little corner of the county has nothing but good to say about him. So sorry to hear of yet another accident. Pray that his family has a strong support group and church family and faith to hold ‘em up!

#Flomaton – Don’t automatically assume that the VFD or any first responders “leaked” this information. Have you ever noticed how busy most of them are when they are on a scene? Have you seen how many people stop and take pictures with their phones and such? As you know you can stand there and take a picture or a video and 2 minutes later it’s on youtube or Facebook.

Please keep your assumptions to yourself.

  17. Flomaton on March 3rd, 2012 8:20 am

Now a days.. I think ita pretty much pointless to say can’t release names until the next of kin is notified because I knew who it was before I knew of any wreck that happened. It’s sad to know that all his wife had to do was open Facebook and find out that her husband had died in a tragic car incident. You can’t tell me there is a leak somewhere with the voulenter fire dept and first responders.

    >>How can you post a pic of an accident with a death before next of kin has been notified? ….That is how I learned of my sons death.WEAR TV 3 ….”

We posted what the authorities in charge said was OK and released for publication. We withheld what they ask us not to print yet.

We work very closely with our first responders and troopers to do as much as possible to help make sure a situation like yours does not happen. We often withhold vehicle descriptions and photos until next of kin are notified because we want to, not because we are required to do so.

Our prayers are with the victim’s family, and well as yours for your loss.

How can you post a pic of an accident with a death before next of kin has been notified?

That is how I learned of my sons death.WEAR TV 3 made a big deal out of “Another Cantonment Teen Killed In An Accident”
