Death Penalty Recommended In 9 Mile Road Restaurant Murder

March 10, 2012

An Escambia County jury has recommended that Timothy Lee Hurst receive the death penalty for a murder 14 years ago at a 9 Mile Road restaurant.

The jury voted 7 to 5 in favor of death for Hurst. His conviction was upheld by the Florida Supreme Court which remanded the case back before the trial Court to conduct a new penalty phase.

Hurst was convicted in 2000 for the murder of Cynthia Harrison inside the Nine Mile Road Popeye’s Restaurant on May 2, 1998. Hurst,  who was then an employee at Popeye’s, stabbed Assistant Manager Cynthia Harrison approximately 60 times and placed her body in the restaurant’s freezer.

I used to get take-out from that Popeye’s on a regular basis. I couldn’t eat food from there for 3yrs. after this heinous murder.
It’s about time for justice to be served.

I cannot believe that this has taken so long!!!

This should not have been allowed to drag on for this long! There should be limits on how long this sort of thing can go on. This young girl was sweet and trusting and you see what that got her? Why should the person who did this get a break? It is one of the worst types of crime, on such a trusting young lady.

I would have thought this would have been handled a lot quicker. Big Government at it’s best. I still won’t eat at that place.

I remember this! Sick sick I thought he would be dead by now. Does anyone know what lawyers wanted to use retardation for an excuse….That makes me sick and I would never want to be messed up with people like that.

Our criminal justice system is broken.

This animal should have been dead and buried within two weeks of conviction.

I volunteer to do the deed!

This piece of garbage has been on death row 14 years and has not yet met his fate. This guy stabbed and slashed this young girl who had down syndrome with a box cutter for $150.00 so he could buy some jewelry. This young lady wore a wig to cover her thin hair and always had a smile on her face. She worked hard and did not want anything handed to her. What a horrible death she must have endured at the hand of a trusted co-worker.

What really stinks is this guys appeals lawyers tried to get his piece of crap to act like he was retarded in court. He has no history of retardation and graduated from a local high schools. Hopefully he will not set on death 14 more years. Lethal injection is too good for this piece of trash.
