Century Joins Flomaton With 4th Fireworks Plans

March 20, 2012

The Town of Century has joined Flomaton in plans for a joint Fourth of July fireworks show.

Both towns have now agreed to chip in $1,500 each toward a $5,000 fireworks show to be held at Century’s Showalter Park.  The remaining $2,000 will come from chambers of commerce and other sponsors.

Last year, both towns sponsored a fireworks show at Hurricane Park in Flomaton. Century agreed to help pay for the show only if the town’s alternated being the host for the event each year.

I would bring a cooler with food and ice tea, a good lawn chair and some good company and try to relax and enjoy myself. If LE is directing the parking, things should no be too stressfull, finding a parking spot. The last thing you need is a free for all in the parking department. I would suggest placing Mayor McCall and Mayor Bondurant in dunking chairs at $5.00 for 3 throws, to offset the cost of the fireworks, but it might give them pneumonia.

Being from flomaton, I will not be going to century to watch the fireworks. I wish we could have our own here in flomaton. I love the town council and mayor, you guys are a joke.

Poohbear, I think it is a very good idea for the 2 towns to work together, too. Makes for a bigger show for all. Alternating sites is good, seems fair to me. You folks that aren’t happy with that, quit fussing, find something productive to do.

They should go ahead and make a festival out of it. Have some things for the kids to do, food, vendors. Doesn’t that sound like a good idea?

Attention ” Do What” stop hating on the fact that Century is finally going to have a firework show. There is alot of people with out transportation and even if they have transportation more like it will walk to the park. By the way Show Walter Park is bigger then what most people think. If the parking does get full they can always park at the football field behind Show Walter at that other park and walk across the small bridge. THANKS TO ALL THAT LET THIS FIREWORK THING HAPPEN IN CENTURY

Terrible idea Showalter park cannot handle the vast amount of people who will attend this event. and now for the parking, well you can figure that out. Keep it in Flomation. It will be much less of a headache for all. signed Century business owner.

That is good news. The Flomaton Mayor and Century Mayor are working together to make a better community.

It would be a good idea to have B&J Sausage Dogs for sale, at the event.
