Arrest Made In Murder

March 25, 2012

An Escambia County man has been charged in connection with a drug-related murder Tuesday in Ensley.

Bryan Andrew Hines, 21, is charged with first degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Frederic Ortiz, age 26, off Highway 29 near I-10. Hines is being held on a $250,000 bond, according to the Escambia County Jail.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office responded about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to Hayworth Avenue to a report of shots fired. When they arrived, Ortiz was found shot to death, lying in the middle of the street.

    REGARDING:
“My argument is this guy gets a bond and the girl from Truman Arms who stabbed the lady last week gets no bond.”

That article was run March 20. You’ll be happy to know the lady, KEIA ALEXIS CLAUSELL, who is accused of killing Shernique Kemp got the same bond offer two days later:

    http://www.escambiaclerk.com/xml/xml.asp?ucase_id=28528828

“03/22/2012 BOND SET AT $250,000 CASH OR PROFESSIONAL”

That seems a bit excessive, she might not have that much on hand. “Hines is being held on a $250,000 bond, according to the Escambia County Jail.” and that’s on a first degree murder charge whereas the lady is only charged with felony manslaughter

    David for equal treatment
    of equal murderers
excuse me — people accused of killing others
(it’s possible neither did anything wrong,
people are quick to jump to judgment)

So for those who dislike Morgan so much—tell me how he and the SO are going to totally stop dope deals that “go bad” and one of the players is killed. I know “citizen” has a dog in the fight and when one wants to be a power broker some odd things are said. I guess we could double our taxes and put more LEO on the street.

I agree – citizen should run for Sheriff!!! If he feels he is qualified to change the mindset of a segment of the population that refuses to accept personal esponsibility for their lives – he’s the man. All I can say is: Good luck!!!!

    callingout,

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t 429CJ just expressing HIS personal beliefs as well?

    429SCJ,

Why attack an individual for stating his own personal beliefs?

    REGARDING:
“When did we start giving anyone a bond for a first degree murder charge?”

From the beginning. The Constitution guarantees it no matter what the charge.

    The Eighth Amendment:
“Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted. ”

Bail must be set unless he is a flight risk or danger to others but other than that, you can’t keep a person in jail for being charged without being found guilty.

    David taking the eighth
    under consideration

Citizen it is not too late to file for your candidacy. Why don’t you get out there and walk it, like you talk it. I am sure a quick review of your personnel file, would offer some interesting insight, as to why you despise Sheriff Morgan, as you do.

If you all want to see something done about all these Murders and Violent crime in and around the county, I would suggest that you get out and vote in the local election. I for one am not happy with the approach our Sheriff has taken which is no approach to these issues. It’s gotten to where every time you read the news it’s some one’s getting stabbed, robbed, murdered etc… I know McNesby has his faults as well as Lowman and other past Sheriffs, but our current Sheriff beats them all. He would rather go around singing and telling everyone else how to spend their budget money instead of taking care of our well being. My vote will not be for him come the primary election. I want a real Law Enforcement Officer in charge so a foot can be put down to stop some of this nonsense. I’m tired of reading about them
