Woman Charged With Hitting Ex-boyfriend With Car

February 3, 2012

An Escambia County woman who allegedly struck her ex-boyfriend with her car in early January was arrested Thursday afternoon.

Shana Hills, 26, was taken into custody without incident at her residence by the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Hills is accused of driving onto the shoulder of the road and striking her ex-boyfriend  as he was walking north on Palafox Street on January 9. The victim was thrown on top of the hood of the car Hills was driving and then fell off slamming his head onto the pavement, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office. The victim was taken to a local hospital in serious condition.

Investigators obtained a warrant for her arrest on January 24 and looked for her ever since on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Hills was booked into the Escambia County Jail without bond.

    @Emily:

I think that Char was just using that as a figure of speech about using his fists on a handcuffed person. The facts are in on MacArthur, he was found guilty no more facts needed. What was shown on video from the jail was certainly clear enough evidence for me. MacArthur used excessive force on a handcuffed inmate(maybe not to the extent of using fists). I for one hope that they also remove his LEO credentials. A person with his temper does not need to have a gun strapped to his side.

    RESPONDING TO SUGGESTION:
    “To all of you:
None of you know the circumstance of this incident. Until you have the “FACTS” nothing should be said at all.”

Nope, you never know all the facts and under your requirements we would always have to be completely silent. If there are facts which we need to know, please feel free to provide them or perhaps YOU – - – no, never mind.

Good to know the fellow is recovering and hope he is more careful either regarding any future girlfriends or turning his back on those he angers.

Discussion regarding proper charges shouldn’t bother his family. They are free to offer suggestions. The lady’s friends are also free to defend her actions — after all, maybe she is just a bad driver or just happened to be distracted when he just happened to be in the way.

    David for openness, honesty,
    recovery and selectivity

    @ personofinterest:

I do not see where anyone has made disparaging comments toward the victim. The derogatory comments that have been made have been directed at the suspect, Shana Hills.

@ Jerry ya’ll may wanna get your facts straight about the McArthur case before you put something like that out there! This is how things get blown out of proportion, I’ve much aware what was on the news but know Char is saying he used his fist, come on guys lets not throw something out there that didn’t happen.

    To all of you:
None of you know the circumstance of this incident. Until you have the “FACTS” nothing should be said at all. I’m a friend of the family and this could have been devastating. The victim is recouping, but it’s going to take time, but all these comments that are being made, remember his family is reading all of this and all you’re doing is hurting them with the comments. My prayers got out to the family….

In some states that could have been attempted murder with a deadly weapon. I do not know if that is the case in Florida. Just saying she may be lucky to have been charged the way she was.

She was mad about something but it did not give her the right to try and kill someone. Does anyone know if she was impaired at the time?

    @ Emily

Maybe Char was talking about Deputy Zachary McArthur when was just sentenced to 10 days in jail for a misdemeanor battery charged against a handcuffed man at the jail. It was all over the news.

  15. Emily on February 3rd, 2012 1:35 pm

@ Char I’m curious where you heard that a law enforcement officer used his fist on a handcuffed inmate???

  16. Jerry A on February 3rd, 2012 11:34 am

    @ Char

Keep on thinking that it is simple battery if you want. A vehicle is considered a lethal weapon. Remember the ECSO deputy that shot and killed a rape suspect on Pensacola Beach because the suspect attempted to run the deputy over with the vehicle. Or the PPD officer that shot a man in the parking lot of a strip club on Davis Hwy because he attempted to run the officer over with his truck. Both officers were exonerated after the investigation called the shooting justified.

    Simple battery, I think not.

Women….can’t live with them, can’t outrun them on foot.

    Ah, young love.

Breaking up can be so painful sometimes.

  19. David Huie Green on February 3rd, 2012 9:21 am

    REGARDING:
    “YEP! Simple Battery.”

Nope, not simple battery when a weapon is used — the vehicle. The aggravated part comes in when folks are aggravated about damaging a perfectly good vehicle in an attempt to kill a gentleman friend.

    David for good drivers

  20. Char on February 3rd, 2012 7:20 am

    hummmmmm
sounds more like simple battery to me

Law enforcement male officer uses his fist while suspect is hand cuffed.
Young woman hits him with her car since her fist will do no damage and leave
trail of blood on a floor.

    YEP! Simple Battery.
