I just wanted to say yes traffic lights do save lives! Just ask people who live in the city close to creighton rd. and spanish trai; creighton rd. and scenic hwy. and langley and scenic hwy. Living in that area for twenty years and being a emergency care professional I witnessed too many fatal accidents there. I am a transplant and now live in Molino in which I am loving. Whether are not one at this intersection would do the same, I don’t know but maybe if nothing else it will make people a little more cautious. We all, myself included, just need to pay attention more to our driving and less to things that could wait until we stopped our vehicles. I am really bad about the almighty cell but am slowly changing my ways with it. Like now if I get or need to text I try my best to either wait til I stop or pull over to do it. I think everyone on here just wants a safer intersection, for that to happen the whole community needs to be more cautious.

I am with Jane on this one!!! I drove thru this wreckage! I have seen moments where I would go out of my way to avoid the insanity of that intersection!!! While traffic lights do not fix stupid, STUPID will know RED means STOP and GREEN means GO!!!

I have to agree with those who said a traffic light would not help:——People turning left from Hwy. 29 on to Hwy.97 need to approch with caution-be sure of on coming traffic traveling south on 29-those on 97 that don’t remember the traffic on Hwy. 29 has the right of way–must also be sure no one pulls out of the T.T. store into your path & all of those talking on cell phonrs at the same time!!!

A traffic light will not prevent stupid. Anyone who turns left in front of an oncoming car is either stupid or not paying attention.

Jane the caution light does the job it was intended to do. Its up to US to use caution and common sense now. A red light is not going to take the place of that.

As I’ve said in response to the traffic light fanatics many times before, a traffic light at that intersection will not stop accidents, it will make them occur further up 97 as people try to illegally pass the slower drivers in the long lines making the left turns. I for one don’t want to follow some drivers who are doing 45 on a 55 road for 15 miles.

I have never had a problem with that intersection and I don’t understand the hysteria about it from some people.

Well you certainly wouldn’t want them to work very hard on behalf of human
    lives now would you?

  8. BOGIAN on February 17th, 2012 7:40 am

Oh yes, we need a stop light there.

Nobody wrecks at stop lights, right? I mean, it would be impossible to wreck if there was a stoplight at that intersection. A stop light relieves people of the duty to drive responsibly, thereby preventing accidents.

This is the only reasonable solution.

It is obvious that the caution light isn’t working well enough. And when they put in the fast food restaurant it will only get worse. There have been 11 accidents there since Jan. 17 to today. People don’t slow down and they think everyone will get out of the way. There is no safe way to cross that intersection.

You do not need a light, you need to slow down, don’t be in such a hurry and use caution, thus the caution light. Installation of a light would mean moving the entrance to Crabtree Church road and the state doesnt own that property. A lot more goes into putting up a light than sayin Oh throw up a light.

We need to contact DOT and get a petition up for a stop light there. Start by contacting Greg Evers at Greg@gregevers.com. Please email him regarding this light issue…he will answer your emails!

How many more times must this happen before a traffic light is installed? This is getting ridiculous. I do NOT understand. It is sometimes hard to get across, and it is such a wide intersection

How many more times will this have to happen before people try to slow down. We have been lucky that none of the wrecks have been fatal as far as I know. Cars south bound on 29 exceed the speed limit and the whole intersection is a mess on top of that. Hope all are healing and will be ok.
