Oops: Driver Fails In Attempt To Cross Flooded Road

February 20, 2012

A driver in Flomaton attempted — and failed — to drive through high water on Railroad Street Sunday morning.  According to the Flomaton Fire Department, everyone in the vehicle was able to get out of the vehicle to higher ground on their own without injuries. The area of Railroad Street pictured often floods after heavy rains like the area experienced on Saturday. Submitted photos by Christine Stanton for NorthEscambia.com, click to enlarge.

This reminds me of fording Perdido River in the old Binder, water up to the doors. A stronger current would have swept that car into the woods. Don’t attempt to cross deep water in a car, and keep your 4X4 out of the river, its illegal, I learned that fact from a Wildlife Enforcement Officer, with a warning.

Thinking like the driver. Well honey it’s time to get rid of this old Chevy celebrity and maybe upgrade to one of those new hybrids. I heard the get good gas mileage and they float. Honey call state farm. What was they thinking when they tried to navagate those waters? People use common sense.

The barricades were put up.But guess what……people drive around them ,move them ,and do everything they can to get by them. Not saying this one did it,but it happens.Simple solution,if you see a bunch of water,DON’T try to drive through it.I am ust glad no one was hurt.

@ baebae…..they did get someone to close the road but sometimes stupid just happens to fast to prevent it, there are just times in life when you just have to use a little common sense, you can’t always rely on someone to follow you around with a barricade!!
@RJay…….Well said, if the barricades would have been up before he got there he probably would have been dragging one under his car when he went in!!

Well, heck if they didn’t stop for the water who’s to say that barricades would have helped. Don’t blame Flomaton, blame the driver.

Failed to drive through but intellectually challenged enough to drive into. Glad everybody made it out and to safer ground
