Decision Possible Today On Gulf Power $93.5 Million Rate Hike
February 27, 2012
The Florida Public Service Commission could decide today if Gulf Power Company customers will pay $93.5 million more a year for electricity — partially to fund the purchase of 4,000 acres of land for a possible nuclear power plant near McDavid.
The PSC staff has recommend against the full rate increase request. The staff recommendation would not allow Gulf Power to pass along costs related to a potential North Escambia nuclear-power plant site. The recommendation says Gulf Power has not taken an initial step — known as getting a determination of need — for such a project
PSC staff has recommended that Gulf Power be allowed a base rate increase of $62.3 million.

REGARDING:
“Not only do they want to buy that land, but have threatened “Eminent Domain” if the owners of that land don’t want to sell.”
Please provide the names of people willing to testify the threat was actually made. Since eminent domain doesn’t apply in this case, you could charge the guilty of extortion.

Not only do they want to buy that land, but have threatened “Eminent Domain” if the owners of that land don’t want to sell. I know this because there is a certain camp grounds located out there that I am very fond of that is having to deal with this.
**SIGH** Saddens me that during a time of economic downfall another CORPORATION is looking to spend more then save! This is the reason so many are looking for alternative sources! When you can no longer pay the bill and charities are no longer able to help – what are you going to do?!?
we didn’t ask for a nuclear-plant so let gulf power pay for it,not the customers .we can’t pay for increase on our bill, because of the gas it going up,the people can’t pay for gulf power increase.
