Brewton Bank Robber May Have Headed To Florida

February 19, 2012

The search is continuing for an Alabama bank robber that authorities said may have fled into Florida.

The Bank of Brewton was robbed in the early afternoon hours on Friday. Due to the bandit’s unique disguise, authorities were unable to determine if the robber was  male or female.

The suspect walked into the bank through a public boardwalk entrance at the rear of the building and demanded cash and fled out the same door. Authorities are not sure exactly how the bandit left the area following the robbery, but they now say the bandit may have headed to Florida.

A manhunt followed the robbery involving multiple agencies including the Brewton Police Department, East Brewton Police Department, the Escambia County (Ala.) Sheriff’s Office, a K-9 team from the Century Correctional Institution and the FBI.

“This isn’t your normal situation,” Lt. Brock Holt of the Brewton Police Department said.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call their local law enforcement agency.

AC NDG, you guys may be right. This person is a master mind using prosthetics and makeup, or a large lucky lady. I would check the buffet at the Wind Creek for starters.

Come on people…really think about this….how many times have you been in WalMart & anywhere else in public & looked at how people are dressed…its a total zoo…people in their pajamas..others half dressed..society has become so sloppy in their appearance that the teller probably did not even give the persons appearance any thought…she’s probably scene just about anything come through the door!

Maybe they could have posted a sign at the door that said, “No Bank Robbing During Business Hours.”

    Mark,

I’m sure a sign posted at the door would have stopped him.

There are signs on the doors at some bamks that say…hats and sunglasses must be removed before entering…if this bank had that policy posted, this idiot wouldn’t have gotten past the front door.

My prayers are with the teller. I once worked in a bank for 9 years and often wondered how I would handle being robbed. I am sure we all THINK we know what we would do if we were robbed but, do we really? I am so thankful that she was not harmed because I am sure she is probably someone’s mother and daughter. God bless her!!!

“Brewton Bank Robber May Have Headed To Florida” Well, that certainly is one possibility. Good to know the leads are strong. Look…if someone freakishly resembling the little blueberry girl in Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory (with a Madea twist) walks in to your bank, you should probably go ahead and hit the alarm.

I can’t believe a picture of the teller is on there!!!! With that kind of picture anyone that comes in to that bank would know exactly who she is!…
