15-Year Old Found Unharmed

February 20, 2012

A young lady that  family said was missing following a Sunday morning wreck in Bratt has been found. Family members said 15-year old Ashley Johnson arrived for school this morning at Northview High School unharmed.

The Florida Highway Patrol responded about 7:30 a.m. Sunday to a wrecked pickup on West Highway 4 near Still Road. The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and a K-9 team from the Century Correctional Institution were called to assist in a search for the driver and any passengers, but no one was found after a two hours search.

Troopers and the Sheriff’s Office did not release any other details about the incident, nor did they confirmed that anyone was considered missing following the crash.

Family members told NorthEscambia.com Sunday evening that the driver was Johnson and they were unable to locate her.

    REGARDING:
    “- – - a Childs mind grows till the age of around 25, – - -”

I’m not saying a word against this child, just glad she’s okay, but that statement deserves some consideration. Even though even thirty-year-olds are starting to look like children to me, legally they’re adults 12 years earlier. You don’t just start acting like an adult at a given age, though. You need to grow up, acting more maturely all the time.

If we really didn’t think people were mature until age 25, we shouldn’t treat them like adults at all. Nobody in his right mind wants to be treated like a clueless child for a quarter of a century and some kids age 12 are more mature than us old geezers. (It’s noteworthy that the framers of the Constitution would not let people serve as representatives until they were 25, senators until they were 30. President until the age of 35. They came to that decision without brain scans, either.)

And then there’s the other side of it, growth and maturity don’t stop at 25. Childish as I still am, I’m more mentally mature than I was at 40 and at 40 I was more mature than at 30, et cetera. Insurance companies don’t look at the internal workings. They notice unmarried people are more apt to have accidents up to the age of 30 and that married people are less apt to have accidents after the age of 25.

Partly that tells us people can grow up without a spouse but they take about five years longer and they still take a while even with a spouse.

David for safe children of any age

Before u start preaching just remember a Childs mind grows till the age of around 25, if u haven’t been around a curve yet u don’t know what’s there, she’s 15, think before u speak!!!

Thank God NorthEscambia.com was a thing of the future about seventeen years ago! That being said, Thank God for it now! When something like this happens we can all exercise our right of freedom of speech Maybe this is going to turn into a good thing for this family, we need to all bind together and pray it does.

Yes this is a private family matter, but it became a public matter when tax dollars and private citizens came out searching for this missing teen. Ms Johnson is only 15 years old, involved in an automotive accident and a missing person incident. Now Child Welfare Services get involved.. This child appears to be well maintained and I am sure has loving, caring parents. I have seen children removed from good homes because of misadventure. The parents will have no say, it is for a case worker and review board to decide, weather she remains in her home, or is placed in foster care. Food for thought teens.

Why don’t we all quit meddling in the affairs of this family and let them work it out on their own…no one knows what really happened…the article doesn’t say.

  12. Joselynn on February 20th, 2012 5:46 pm

Ashley is not troubled. She was confused. So please by all means please stop saying that she has problems or needs help because she’s just fine.

“I bet……. 2nd sentence says …..arrived for school this morning. Geesh! Reread for comprehension!”

No reason to be snarky. I didn’t realize that some schools were open today either. I was wondering honestly is she forgot schools were closed today. Her question isn’t that offhand, since the three people I told the story to (my parents/brother) were confused by that fact as well.

Drinking and driving, leaving the scene, no valid licence, out without permission, texting and driving, the list could go on and on, but only Ashley knows the truth. Glad she is ok, but I agree with Suzi, this young lady need to know the heartache and grief she caused for a lot of folks. The out come could have been fatal.

Maybe she pay for the damages AND the manpower that it took to search for her and passengers. After being married to a Paramedic/Firefighter, it is horrible to them if they can’t find anyone, not knowing if they were ejected or worse. There was an incident a few years back where a vehicle was found wrecked and left running on Untreiner in Pensacola, doors were open but no one was around. The next morning, a lady living across from where it happened found a young girl’s body on a nearby lot. Unfortunately, they assumed the vehicle had been abandoned due to DUI or drugs and the search didn’t extend far enough. This young lady needs to know how horrible it is for all concerned, no matter what her reasons. Her family went through hours of torture. And 15 ???

  18. I bet.... on February 20th, 2012 12:49 pm

I bet she was scared and hid at a friends house. Also isnt school out today??

  19. Dixie Chick on February 20th, 2012 12:43 pm

Seriously yall? This is a 15 yr old kid u are talking about. Think if this was ur child. Would u want everyone talking about it and brainstorming why she disappeared? She obvivously had issues so wwhy discuss it. Quit commenting on her and her family and let them deal with it by themselves. Don’t know u Ashley but glad u are safe!!

  20. Elizabeth on February 20th, 2012 11:50 am

    I’m really glad she’s okay.

I think this incident goes beyond grounding and I hope her parents get her the help she needs.

  21. Just Wondering on February 20th, 2012 11:23 am

I’m glad the kid is ok, BUT I’m just wondering what a 15 year old was doing driving, last seen at 2am on a Saturday night, and then shows up for school on Monday morning when her parents have NO IDEA?!?!? There’s something seriously wrong with this picture. Just saying.

  22. Jessica on February 20th, 2012 10:38 am

So, she wrecks and hides out all night…then just shows up to school the next morning? Did she think no one would notice a wrecked truck on the side of the road. SMH. Just proof that the teenage mind works in strange ways that make no sense what-so-ever. Glad she is okay, and hope she learns a huge lesson from all this. I know the family is relieved she is home.

  23. KH on February 20th, 2012 10:04 am

So glad that she is ok , I know her family is very relieved that she isn’t harmed! Just hope that she doesn’t just disappear again because that’s a scary thing to think you’ve lost your child.
Hope everything works out for her & the family.
