Second DCF Impersonator Reported

January 25, 2012

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a second report of a man impersonating an investigator with the Department of Children and Families.

Just before noon Tuesday, a resident reported that a white male that identified himself as “James Redkin” came to his residence and told him that he was with DCF and that the homeowner was under investigation in reference to his daughters. The homeowner told the man that he did not have any daughters and asked the suspect for identification.

The homeowner told deputies that the suspect acted as if he wanted to enter his home but left after seeing his dog, he drove off in a newer model white sedan.

This was the second report in Escambia County of a man posing as a DCF investigator. On January 18th a man identifying himself as a DCF investigator, entered a home
claiming to be investigating the resident for child neglect. The suspect in that incident matches the description of the suspect in Tuesday’s incident, according to investigators.

The white male was described as being approximately 5’8” tall, 150 pounds, dirty blond hair combed forward. The suspect was reported to be driving a newer model white four-door sedan, possible a Chevrolet Malibu.

Investigators encourage anyone who has information to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (850) 436-9620 or CrimeStoppers at (850) 433-STOP.

It would help if license plates were on the front of the vehicle, can’t see a plate when they are backing out the driveway…. Not knowing who or what they want I wouldn’t go out there to see the backside of the car….

Let’s look at this another way and leave out all the opinions regarding DCF:
    1. This man wants into your home.
    2. You don’t know if he is a rapist, thief, murderer, or child molester.
    3. Whatever reason he has for wanting in isn’t good.
So let’s try to catch him. Try to get even a partial plate number off the vehicle. Watch for anyone fitting the description at your home or your neighbors home. If you see him, call 911.

I wonder why they didn’t take down the license plate when they identified the type of car he was driving? Maybe the next person will take it down and give to the police. That would be one step closer to identifying the man, unless he is driving a borrowed or stolen vehicle.

This guy will be in a very sad state of affairs if he visits my home. Dr. Minyard will be the last doctor he sees.

Concerned mother – I don’t see where Michael is saying that. I’m sure he, also, feels that “This story is about some crazy man obviously up to no good.” And “a pervert looking to kidnap a child”. Obviously, he would want “this man is caught soon, before he hurts a child!” BUT, unless you have dealt with the DCF organization personally, you wouldn’t understand. Unless you already know the situation being referred to, by your statement, “You don’t need to bring your opinion about being wronged by DCF into this”, you don’t don’t need to criticize someone for their personal opinion. There are several people among them (DCF) that could be considered a “predator preying on innocent children”. BTW, what DCF does can sometimes be considered kidnapping in some cases. So he’s right, WHY would you want to impersonate those people. I agree with you, also, THIS STORY IS ABOUT some crazy perverted man that needs to be “caught soon, before he hurts a child!”

This story needs to be put out there so everybody can see it. Not just in Escambia County, Fl, but all surrounding areas, too, in hopes of catching him.

Michael really!?!?! This story is about some crazy man obviously up to no good. I, personally, think he is a pervert looking to kidnap a child. You don’t need to bring your opinion about being wronged by DCF into this. I just hope this man is caught soon, before he hurts a child!
