Photo: The ‘Welcome To Florida’ Sign Says Gov Scott Is A What?

January 26, 2012

Those souvenir photos in front of the “Welcome to Florida” sign on Highway 29 at the state line in Century have been a little more interesting for over a month, thanks to a vandal.

A little spray paint  transformed the official greeting to “Governor PRick Scott”. According to Webster’s dictionary, the word “prick” is defined as “a spiteful or contemptible man often having some authority”. (And a note to the little boys and girls: While the word is only sometimes vulgar, it’s still not considered a polite word to use.)

Despite calls reporting the graffiti to the Florida Department of Transportation, the sign has been proudly politicizing about the governor since at least the middle of December.

As the saying goes, it is what it is !!!! Just happens to be the truth in this case.

Well, it’s as simple as this: As long as the economy remains in such disrepair and the “little man” continues to struggle to get by, people will be discontent with elected officials. As long as those officials seem to support special interests and big corporations over the individuals who elected them, people be discontent. As long as we, the people continue to be naïve and allow ourselves to be fooled into electing those same said officials, we will be discontent. Until we retake our government, at all levels, and, once again, make it a government of the people, for the people, by the people, we will be discontent. Whatever the reasons, the majority of us are discontent and naïve about how to fix our broken system. Unfortunately, all the political rhetoric and propaganda are only fueling this problem and making it worse, like Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, and even Obama acting they understand the locals and our problems… Only if we’re part of the 1% and our problems include how to make more money off the “little man”. As far as the sign goes, it’s funny, yet still illegal and inappropriate, regardless of one’s views.

Well, ask State employees that had their retirements cut. I believe the sign now reflects the true feeling of the workers in the state. He on the other hand is lives high on the hog with the 50 million he stole.

To whomever “repainted” the sign, should have to pay to get it removed. I know we will never find out who it is but it is a shame that everyone has to “pay” for some persons stupidity. Oh yes, I forgot that you can’t fix “stupid”. I think Gov. Scott is doing a great job and as far as drug testing goes, IF the state has to pay anyone, you should have rules to follow to get the money. IF you can afford drugs, you don’t need state support.

    Well Jimbo,
All i see is about the jobs he is cutting not much new industry and jobs created.
Unless you count the jobs he cut that will be privatized. Privatized= Costs more because someone now makes a profit off of it.

Maybe the governor should march state troopers into Century and start investigating this. Shut ‘er down and declare martial law until these name-calling vandals are apprehended. He probably should include Flomaton, too, since it might have been in retaliation for the FDLE investigation.

Would any of you that dis-approve of Governor Scott PLEASE tell me and everyone else what your beef is with this Governor. Everyone seems to want to badmouth the guy, but I’ve yet to see a substantive complaint. One person told me they hated him because he supported drug testing those receiving State assistance. That can’t be the only arguement. I’m all ears.

Well, that’s creative…I haven’t noticed it but it just @ sums things up. I probably would have put up Rick Snott, but that’s a better one..haha.

Why don’t you get some of the co’s that are losing their jobs to come and fix your sign.

True or false, public property shouldn’t be vandalized

We didn’t all vote to vandalize, I assume somebody voted for him and may still disagree, we are all going to pay to undo the damage.

Further, once this starts, others are tempted to vandalize other signs in other ways. I’ve seen STOP signs stolen and people died for their absence. Yes, they’ve been doing it all along, but it is still wrong.

    David considering slippery slopes

“Despite calls reporting the graffiti to the Florida Department of Transportation…”

Maybe FDOT workers are in agreement with the sign and they’re in no hurry to change it!
