Mike Whitehead Running For Escambia Tax Collector
January 28, 2012
Former Escambia County Commissioner Mike Whitehead prefiled Friday to run for Escambia County Tax Collector.
Whitehead will run as a Republican for the seat that has been held by Democrat Janet Holley since 1998.
“I look forward to working to improve access and efficiency in this department,” he said.
Whitehead was elected three times to the Escambia County Commission — 1992, 1996 and 2004. He ran unsuccessfully for county commission in 1988 and 2008, and had an unsuccessful bid for Clerk of the Court in 2000.

Vote NO!!!! NO!!!! NO!!!! for Mike Whitehead. Just ask anyone who was in his district when he was a County Commissioner. And yes, Lesley Grace, I do know him. I’ll vote Republican except for Whitehead.
If his wife can’t trust him, why should we?
Oh Please, Stop trashing Mike Whitehead. I haven’t done all of my research. But from reading these posts you all act like you know him. Janet Holley is just as bad. She knew what she was doing when she was double dipping. And I just can’t stand for anyone to be in office that long.
Lesley Grace
If Escambia County wants to keep going down the tolet, put him in office.and while we are at it lets get rid of the other LEADERS in the County. we need people who care where the Conuty is headed in charge…
Forget it Mike……bad idea…….not in my lifetime……wasting your time & mine, having to read this on MY forum……
Whitehead was not involved with the soccor complex deal.
That was W.D. Childers in Oct. 2001, Whitehead was not on the BOCC from 2000 to 2004.
Now lets say no other Republican files to run against him.
That puts him against Holley in November.
If enough people are lazy and vote a straight republican ticket just to get rid of Obama………………
Whitehead is elected.
Never, elect him for anything. We are still trying to get over the damage and waste this man has done to this county.
He wanted to have Yard Inspections which would include all cars must have current tags. I collect classic cars
he is very heavy handed , No votes for him
Mike Whitehead in charge tags, titles and business licenses? That sounds like a really bad idea to me considering all the crony business relations from his past. Like someone else mentioned, the WD soccer complex boondoggle scandal and his past connections to Road Inc and those folks? No way.
Janet Holley has done a good job. I don’t have any problems with how she does her job and I haven’t heard of any problems. How she is getting paid is bother some, but that is a problem with the system in Escambia County, not something she created.
Well I would people would be smart enough to vote no where Mr. Whitehead is concerned he’s already been a crooked county commissioner like his buddy Wilson Robertson so it no for both of those crooks.
i don’t trust him! He gets my “no” vote!
Electing Mike Whitehead as tax collector would be like letting Madonna organize a “True Love Waits” rally– really bad idea…
I’m a fan of giving incumbents the boot, but definitely not in this case.
This guy is truly shameless
This is why Escambia county is going nowwhere. Hopefully this guy doesnt get elected and break the cycle of the good ole’ boys running this county. Like a dog chasing its tail.
Don,t forget his hunting buddy, illegal hunting that is, former sheriff ronnie mac.
This man wonts more of the escambia county tax payers money.
This guy has been involved in more than one shady deal…he wont get my vote.
if he’s not an incumbent i’m voting for him. the only incumbent i vote for is the sheriff. dog catcher to the president, fire em.
Wow,
Wisconsin illegal hunting boondoggle, sells county property then tries to secretly buy it back……… would you trust him with your tax money? This could be the most lopsided election in history…….
back again to scam money….what a better place, than the tax office
Seems he was involved in the old soccer complex troubles on Hwy.29 at “W”street,HMMM?
If he wins he can hire Dee Dee as his secretary.
