Man Just Arrested On Drug Charges Found Smoking Pot In His Jail Cell

January 19, 2012

A Cantonment man just arrested on drug charges was allegedly found smoking marijuana in his jail cell a short time later.

David Lee Mason, age 32 of Quarters Road, was charged with resisting an officer without violence, possession of cocaine with the intent to sell or distribute, possession of cocaine without intent, possession of drug paraphernalia, introducing contraband into a detention facility, possession of marijuana and destruction of evidence.

Tuesday, deputies responded to an address on Doris Avenue in Ensley to arrest Mason on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear. That’s where they say they found Davis sitting in a white Cadillac in the driveway of a residence.

As deputies attempted to handcuff him, Mason allegedly pushed one of them and fled into the backyard of the residence where he was apprehended. According to an arrest report, deputies found 11.4 grams of powder cocaine and 10.5 grams of crack cocaine in the Cadillac. At the jail, detention deputies reported finding marijuana hidden in Mason’s sock.

A short time later, Mason was found by jail personnel in his jail cell smoking marijuana, according to an arrest report, that he had allegedly hidden inside a body cavity.

Mason remained in the Escambia County Jail without bond early Thursday morning.

to jcellops nobody said he did it after he was apprehended. besides youd be surprised what a criminal can hide in their body cavities

Oh, give the kid a break! He’s had a tough life. Let him stay in jail at least thru the winter. That way he’ll stay warm and have food to eat, and according to another poster plenty of (clean) pot.

Now is this the kind of druggie repeat offender that we would be sending
to re-hab when he doesn’t want it? Do we really think he will learn anything?

I got something for this kind to do and THEY WILL NEVER RE-PEAT.
    SEND HIM TO ME!

Fine upstanding member of society. He was already on DOC Supervision for drug charges as of September 2011.

One more reason to say no to drugs. Would you put a joint to your lips if you knew it’s been up this dude’s tailpipe?

I’m assuming he put it there as he hid from the police, and doesn’t keep it there all the time.

Officers cannot perform cavity searches only Medical staff can….But still this man is clearly an Idiot….

“allegedly had hidden inside a body cavity”….whos to say he didnt get both the lighter and the pot from INSIDE the jail (from someone)?..that seems a much more plausible scenerio to me…i would think, if they initially found drugs hidden in his sock, logically they would have proceeded in giving him an EXTRA thorough going-over for more drugs…i just do not believe that he had any opportunity or time to “hide” contraband once he was apprehended…think about it.
