Incumbent Malcolm Thomas Pre-files For School Superintendent
January 31, 2012
Escambia County School Superintendent Malcolm Thomas pre-filed for re-election Monday. To date, no other candidate has pre-filed for the position.
“While we celebrate our milestones, we have not reached our destination. We must continue the journey to excellence,” the first-term superintendent said. He attributed better student achievement and discipline, greater transparency, a strong school board, thousands of dedicated employees, and motivated students as a few of his reasons for running for re-election.
Thomas will run once again as a Republican.

@Joe We (my husband and I) have 2 kids and he has a son in high school. So to be politically correct, I have 2 kids but we have 3 kids in different schools(:
WOW, some people seem to mistake making an apperance at an event as careing. of course he shows up at events, that is where voters are. he needs to shank hands and root for the home team!
ask your kids when or if they have seen him at their school.
I need to go back to school myself because I am stuck on a math problem,
parent of 2 wrote, “I have kids in 3 schools”
and signed it “Mom of 2 and proud of it”
so is there another child? how do 2 kids go to 3 schools? I’m lost!
Mr. Thomas has my vote also. I placed a phone call to his office and within 24 hours he had not only called me back but had a solution for the problem. I also would like to thank him for supporting the arts in our schools. I believe art, band, and chorus is just as important and should be supported just as well as sports.
My child attends a school at the north end of the county, and Mr. Thomas has attended several programs that they have put on during the day at school. I believe He is doing a great job.
Well Mr. Thomas has my vote. He has done more for this county than anyone has in a LONG time. Every ball game, meeting, school event, funerals, etc he has been to that I have attended which is quite a few since I have kids in 3 schools. The quality of education and grades in schools have risen sharply since he took office. I can check my kids grades, check their homework, and he has always called me back. Mr. Thomas Keep UP the GOOD WORK!!! You will never make everyone happy!! You have my vote and will contacting you to see just what me and my community can do to help you. Thank you for caring for our KIDS and schools!!! Mom of 2 and proud of it!!
I believe this is an elected office. If you don’t like someone or the job they are doing, vote them out. Yes, I agree they are overpaid for this area and the amount of work they do. Maybe we could vote on their salaries??
WE ALL NEED TO GO DOWN TO THE PACE BUILDING. SEE HOW FANCY THAT TOP FLOOR IS. THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED WITH SOME OF THE CONDITIONS IN OUR SCHOOLS.WE NEED TO CLEAN HOUSE HIM AND JIM PAULS BOYS NEED TO GO….
my experience with him is bad as well. he never gives a direct answer to any question. he turns a blind eye to many issues as well. if I could cover the file fees i would run for the office and do the job for free! well less gas expenses as we in the north end live a long way from the downtown office.
I feel we pay these people too much money, it becomes a money making job for them and not a job to make a difference.
Mr. Thomas has my vote. I’ve seen a lot of great things take place in our community since he’s been in office. No one can come in and wave a magic wand and “fix” everything overnight. It’s a work in progress, and I’m satisfied with what I’ve seen so far. He has my vote!
Bet you would be the first to complain about increasing taxes to clean up schools. Who is going to pay for it? you? Mr. Thomas? Our bankrupt government?
this man need to go home he has no voice for children he will not return your calls we don;t need him..
Moldy Classrooms and he refuses to fix the problem! He has to go. We need someone that cares about our students. After meeting with him about the mold in my child’s classroom he refused to do anything about it and his only solution was allow my child to be moved to another school. He sits in his fancy office looking out over the bay while our children have to sit in moldy classrooms that smell like a toilet every time the HVAC turns on. Typical politician. He must go!! We need someone who will do the right thing and improve the condition of the classrooms. I would challenge him to trade his office for a moldy classroom for one week. Then he might change his sorry arrogant attitude. Please Escambia we need a new school Superintendent that CARES!!
