Grand Jury Finishes Billboard Tree Cutting, Evers Probe

January 7, 2012

A Tallahassee grand jury looking into how a Panhandle billboard company got permits to cut down 2,094 state-owned trees without paying the usual fees has finished its investigation.

The jury’s findings, however, will remain sealed for now until people involved in the investigation are informed of what the jury found.

The investigation involves how Bill Salter Advertising escaped fees when it got the contract to remove the trees, and was able to avoid other requirements. Part of the investigation included emails to Sen. Greg Evers, R-Baker, then a House member, in which the Bill Salter asked for help on the issue. Evers in turn lobbied then-Secretary of Transportation Stephanie Kopelousos on behalf of the company.

    REGARDING:
“So now we just cut down trees to put up billboards?”

I don’t think so. Usually what happens is that billboards are already up and trees grow in front of them until they obscure the view. They cut down the trees blocking the view. One alternative is to put the signs up higher than trees grow, but that blocks other views.

I think that I shall never see,
A billboard lovely as a tree
    Indeed, unless the billboards fall
I'll never see a tree at all.

TALLY-HO. Not putting down the NRA. The connection was that Evers face was a large part of the bill board. There are so many members of NRA in this area including me that were not placed on a bill board (maybe a very large group photo would work). Evers was used for a totally political reason for his election. Bill boards are costly and it was a way to “help Evers” be in the public eye with out his showing the gift.

As usual the law makers are bigger crooks than the regular criminals!!
Thank goodness they will someday soon stand before the King of Kings and be judged!

    Don’t forget tallyho,

I cannot see the connection between trees being cut down and the NRA. We convict a person before the investigation is released. But the crooks and thieves can see the difference when a person can defend his family and home. You see people protesting in the park in Pensacola whom do not no why there there but to occupy. Get a life and take a bath, clean up and GET A JOB!!!!!!!!!!!

    molino jim,

    Your right about the
billboards being up showing evers is a NRA supporter. But no one knows how long salter has been buying evers support. Remember they are part of the good ole boys along with eddins, robertson, and more of our “elite”.

If we ever start locking up dirty politicians, we won’t have any politicians left.
They call it business as usual ( unless of course you and I tried it ).
We pay them very handsomely to steal from us. It’s called getting it
    at both ends.

When you vote and their in, take them out. CHANGE EVERY ONE.
    Send the MESSAGE..

For C.W.—– I recall there were a number of bill boards that showed Evers face and the statement to the effect that he was a member of the NRA and votes. These went up before the election and did not have to be reported as a campaign contribution. It’s so nice to have friends you can help. (ask Wilson about that) I guess the grand jury report will have to be approved by the players in this—such as Evers and Bill Salter.

We will get to see if the good ole boy network is still going to do things their way. Bill Salter “paid” evers for his gift with the bill boards that helped evers get reelected. Now its time for evers to pay for his waste of tax payers resoarces!
