Deputies Seek Persons Of Interest In Walmart Carjacking

January 25, 2012

Sheriff’s investigators are asking for help to identify two persons of interest in an attempted carjacking at Walmart in Ensley last Friday night.

Two black males pointed a gun at a young woman and tried to get make her get into the backseat of her car in the parking lot of the Walmart on Pensacola Boulevard. When she refused, one of the suspects struck the victim in the head with the gun. The suspects then fled.

Moment later, the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office received another call nearby of a male that had been robbed by two black males matching the same description from the attempted carjacking.

After a lengthy K-9 track for the suspects, several items were recovered that are believed to have been in possession of the suspects, according to investigators.

Tuesday, the Sheriff’s Office released images from Walmart surveillance cameras that they believe show the suspects.

Investigators encourage anyone who has information on the identity of the two males pictured  to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (850) 436-9620 or CrimeStoppers at (850) 433-STOP.

If they have pictures of people leaving the toilet, they have pictures of them entering, they have pictures of them walking down the aisles, through the doors.

Side views, frontal views, rear views. People who looked at them as if they knew them, the purchases those people made. In all likelihood they went in and out several times in the past week.

Knowing the angles, you know the heights. Knowing the body shapes, you can approximate weights. it’s very likely a relatively small number of people meeting those criteria already have criminal records. Knowing associates of people fitting both descriptions would narrow down suspects quickly since they would be associates of each other.

Assuming they’re serious about stopping them, it’s just a matter of time to piece it all together. Should be fun.

David thinking it’s an interesting puzzle to work out
and Wal-Mart and ECSO should be motivated
by desire to keep sales up, crime down

I use to love shopping at the Ensley walmart– shopping in Pensacola, it was easy to get in and out of the lot. Now, I don’t even think about stopping there. It’s become a danger zone and not enough security patrolling the parking lot.

It would be nice if the security cameras were able to catch the face, not just the tops of their heads…and they are certainly blurry enough….not real high quality for the money that is spent there.

We spend our time and resources trying to catch a few illegals that only want a job and try to make a decent wage while this kind of garbage walks our streets. Seems to me we are deporting the wrong group.

I agree with Renegade… and carry the gun on your person, not in your purse ladies. If your purse is snatched the gun won’t help you. But, be prepared to use your weapon. Never let the criminal get closer than 9 feet, lest they take the weapon from you.

Smart girl. A hit to the head is a better outcome that going to the backseat where you would probably never return from.

It’s easy to say “get your concealed carry permit” or buy a gun, but if you are going to carry – you better be sure you are ready AND willing to use it. It would be so easy for the bad guy to take the gun away from you and use it against you…everyone, please be careful and don’t just get a concealed carry permit – practice, practice, practice AND be WILLING to use it…be safe out there.

Watch your surroundings and take a Firearms Training Class, Get your Concealed Weapons Permit and a .380 Pocket Gun like a Keltec or Ruger. Take time to hit the range and put at least 200 rounds through the new gun. Then keep your hand on it when in an area you are not sure of. Most of these THUGS are not expecting anyone to protect themselves and are just trying to prey on the easy targets.

Just make sure you have training and are comfortable with the firearm. Your safety is first, and knowledge is the best way to go….

If you want to increase your chances of something bad happening to you try the Ensley Walmart today. There seems to be plenty of bad people around there waiting for someone to take advantage of.

I know it’s everywhere so we should always be alert to our surrondings.

Be aware of your surroundings, park in well-lighted areas, keep your keys in your hand, and whenever possible, shop with other people! If someone tries to grab you, use the panic button on your keys to attract attenion, scream “fire” or make as much noise as possible to attract attention! While this won’t fix the problem it may help.
