Cold Cantonment Case: 1981 Murder Remains Unsolved

January 4, 2012

murder11.jpgIt was 31 years ago on the afternoon of January 2, 1981, that 9-year old Kenneth Deshun Underwood and three companions went bird hunting in the woods near their Cantonment home. Everyone returned home that afternoon except for Underwood.

When Underwood was still not home around 6 p.m., Escambia County Search and Rescue personnel were called. The area were Underwood was last seen alive was canvassed. His body was discovered about 5:45 the next morning –apparently murdered — in an area near Booker Street.

The case remains unsolved, and  the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for help because they believe someone in our area still has information about Underwood’s death.

If you know anything about the death of Kenneth Deshun Underwood, 9, you are asked to call the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit at (850) 436-9580 or Crime Stopper at (850) 433-STOP (7867).

why hasn’t this baby’s murder been solved?? Its been far too long. Its time for someone to come forward and answer the questions that this poor family has. They need to know….they deserve to know!! Someone knows something. Someone has been carrying around this burden for 3 decades! Its time to get it off your chest….its time to make peace with God.That sweet little boy did not deserve this. You can’t bring him back but you can bring some closure for this little angels mother and family. Please do the right thing……its time!! May God bless little Kenneth and his family!!

Ask the 3 companions who went with him bird hunting. Are we missing something here?

You know someone knows something about that baby’s death. I can not believe it has went unsolved all these years. I really think some people need to be revisited and giving polygraphs…… How was he murdered? Did his friends see anyone around???? Just way to many questions left unanswered for me. I pray that this family receives the closure and justice they deserve!

His poor family; all this time and no closure/justice. I sure hope someone does the right thing and tells if they know anything…this is so sad.
