Four Life Sentences: Phillip Monier Guilty Of Shooting Three Escambia Deputies

January 20, 2012

An Escambia County jury returned a guilty verdict Friday afternoon in the trial of Phillip Monier for shooting three Escambia County Sheriff’s Office deputies in 2010.

Monier was sentenced to four consecutive life sentences in prison.

He was found guilty of four counts attempted murder, along with counts of aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of methamphetamine. A burglary charge was reduced to  trespassing.

Monier convicted of shooting Deputy Jeremy Cassady and deputies Sam Parker and Chad Brown during a home invasion hostage incident October 29 at his girlfriend’s home near Scenic Highway in Pensacola. Monier was also charged in connection with shooting at a fourth deputy who was not wounded.

Cassady was severely wounded in the incident and spent 20 days in Sacred Heart Hospital. He later received a pancreas and kidney transplant in August 2011.

Monier’s girlfriend, Jackie Rosenbloom, called 911 as Monier forced his way into her home looking a ring that he demanded be returned. He took Rosenbloom hostage and ignored orders to drop his weapon as deputies entered the home. Monier used Rosenbloom as a human shield, but he was struck by at least one round in the hand. He was eventually talked out of the home by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and hostage negotiators.

It is probably best that Philip Monier spend his life behind bars. Hopefully he will not ever be released back upon the public. He was adopted and raised in a good Catholic home in McComb, Mississippi, but has basically lived a life of crime since he was a teenager. He has been given chances time and time again to amend his life but he has refused. Apparently, a life of debauchery and crime is all he has pursued for the last three decades. He, along with two accomplices, robbed a family of their guns in 1984 and went to trial. The other two made a deal to testify against him so he was the only one on trial. He was acquitted and got away scot-free. The other two weren’t charged because they had made deals. The guns all thrown in a bayou in Louisiana. It was awful to see him smile and walk out of the courtroom. He has served little time in the past for all his evil deeds but justice has now come to him. I pray for the recovery of everyone in Florida who became his victims. He has hurt many people over the years and his family has suffered from his countless offenses to others. I also pray that he may one day acknowledge God and understand all the harm he has done to others who cared for him.

    REGARDING:
“After seven years she still wouldnt give the ring back?……..”

The gentleman changed his story a number of times as to why he was there, why he was pointing a gun at her, why he shot the law enforcement officers. It probably didn’t hinge on a ring, rather on an unhinged person.

David for not shooting over trinkets

Don’t know why this guy just didn’t take a plea……But I guess since he is a lowlife he figured he’d make the taxpayers pay for his trial….

Justice has been served. May he find forgiveness from our Lord. Deputy Cassady will never be able to forget that terrible day. Praying God’s blessings on him and his family.

Question: What is the smart thing to do if you are a convicted felon? Answer: Stay away from and don’t carry firearms. Question: What is the smart thing to do when a LEO tells you to “put down the gun”? Answer: Put down the gun. Either this guy is a long way from being smart, or he’s one of those dirtbags that has no respect for his life or anyone else’s.

Mr. Monier caused permanant irrepairable damage to Deputy Cassady. 4 life terms was at best generous. Maybe that was the most severe punishment allowed by law. IMHO, Monier owes Deputy Cassady things he can’t possibly afford.

And yet, another fine upstanding member of society. He should be thankful that he is still alive.
