Traffic Stops Ends With 19-Year Old Facing Felony Drug Charge

December 29, 2011

A 19-year old Cantonment resident was charged with felony drug possession after a traffic stop not far from Tate High School.

An Escambia County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped Kyle Mason Driver on Tate Road at Planta Canada Drive due to window tint that was observed to be excessively dark. According to an arrest report, the deputy smelled what he believed to be the odor of burnt marijuana from his 2008 Ford F150.  Driver refused to give the deputy consent to search the vehicle and a K-9 was called to the scene.

The K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle located 20 Oxycodone pills in the vehicle, according to deputies.

Driver was released from the Escambia County Jail on $5,000 bond.

Yall are all extremely judgmental. You don’t know anything about him so who are to act like you know what he’s been through? He does what every other teenager in cantonment does, he just has bad luck and gets caught. And before you say your kids don’t do that, check again. Because 9 times out of 10, they do…you just don’t know about it. Keep your head up babe <3 love you.

I think I know him better than any living soul on the face of this earth, except the Good Lord above and I would like to say until you walk a mile in his shoes and know as much as we all do about his past & present, which only his family and true friends do, then tell someone who wants to listen because not one of you negative commenting people know a darn thing about Kyle, but if your so worried about Kyle harming you, that’s funny as he has never broke into a house, stole a darn thing and as far as the data put on here from the Court Website, BIG DEAL! If you think that bothers any of us, think again because it is public information and the ones commenting on here I am positive they investigate everyone’s record that has some type of story printed on here, so it’s old news. I am glad that you all find Kyle so interesting and took the time to share your thoughts, but then again, like I said, you don’t know him, but if you want, why don’t you put your real names on here and lets look you up on the Court Website! Hmmmm?. Yeah, just what I thought! Kyle’s record isn’t the only one we would see, now is it?

Life is hard on misunderstood children.

You just have to love the folks who think EVERYBODY’S doing exactly what this poor, misunderstood child is doing.

People harshly misjudge him for driving 85 or so on narrow roads in residential areas with small children and pets and old people.
    How could anything go wrong?
    Why would anyone feel endangered?

Why be so hard on this poor, misunderstood child for shooting and killing other people’s animals?
He probably didn’t know the gun was loaded or that bullets kill or he may have even been aiming at someone or something else.

Don’t judge and let us be thankful he doesn‘t live near most of us.

David for nonjudgmentalism from a safe distance
(if there IS any safe distance)

  5. It's Amazing on December 30th, 2011 10:17 am

It amazes me that Kyle M. Driver has never been arrested for stealing but now all of a sudden he is accused of being a Home Invader, Dope Dealer, etc. Get a life. He did his time and if you have one of the owners (who apparently knows Kyle) commenting about this situation and doesn’t hate Kyle for the “ACCIDENTAL SHOOTING” of his animal and obviously knows the facts and that is why this person commented the way they have, maybe you all should take notes. Kyle made a mistake and will pay for it in one way or another, but to state he is this and lock your windows, doors, etc. You people need friggen help! OMG, he got caught with some pills, big deal. How many of you take pills from time to time that aren’t yours? We all have, so stop with your negative comments and go to Church on Sunday (If you even attend a church) and ask God to forgive you for judging a person as it’s his job, not yours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me tell you that if it was my son, or a family member, I would not be defending him to the level folks are. This guy has been a pain to his neighbors, and law enforcement for years, so don’t tell me I should give him a break and forgive him because he is 18, or 19. I didn’t kill a pregnant donkey, assault people, and sell dope or take illegal prescription drugs when I was a teenager. This criminal will hopefully get some decent jail time. You can go visit him in jail.

THERE ARE MORE KIDS AROUND HERE ON PILLS AND THEY DO STUPIED STUFF WHEN THEY ARE TAKING THEM.THEY NEED TO GET THE PILLS MILLS OUT OF ESCAMBIA COUNTY.THEY JUMP FROM DOCTOR TO DOCTOR GO TO DIFFERENT DRUG STORES.I WISH THEY WOULD QUIT MAKING THE DARN THINGS.THE PEOPLE THAT ARE REALLY IN PAIN NEED THEM BUT KIDS OUT HERE ARE NOT IN PAIN AND THEY DONT KNOW WHAT PAIN IS ALL ABOUT.ITS JUST A HIGH THEY WANT.GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS AND GET THESE DOCTORS THAT ARE GIVING THEM OUT.AS FOR AS THE DONKEY HE SHOT.HE SHOULD STILL BE IN PRISON FOR THAT.

  8. GetRight on December 30th, 2011 12:30 am

Oh and for the record, me my friends and family live on jacks branch, Noone is scared to go in there yards because of Kyle, If yall reallyy wanna know the stuff being stole or whatever isnt from him or anyone else his age its stolen by little kids, and Kyle should be the least of everyones worries beings that there is a sex offender from another state living on that rode, who im sure is still attempting too lurk on your kids, !!

  9. GetRight on December 30th, 2011 12:24 am

Everyones so quick to judge, im sure if this was your family or friend yall wouldnt be on here talkin about him like this, i just wanna get something straight about the donkey incident,
It was my familys Donkey, My favorite one, and from what ive heard i honestly dont beleive Kyle did it, Even If he did he did his time and that was it, But point is if I out of all people can forgive him everyone else should to. everyone has things in there past they arnt proud of, leave the boy alone i mean come on hes was 18 19, he’s still young hes gunna make mistakes and learn from them, and what if this was yalls son an people were bad mouthin him like this, you wouldnt be so happy would yaa,

**Dont eveen comment back with your 2 cents, I know facts,
    Kthanks(:

  10. mick on December 29th, 2011 8:16 pm

The only remedy.. put him in jail for 50 years …no parole…no more breaks.

  11. Scott on December 29th, 2011 6:11 pm

This should be easy enough to figure out. If he has a prescription for Oxycodone, then the charges should be dropped, and it will have been a big mistake.

If he doesn’t have a prescription, then I really don’t care to know the “whole story.”

  12. Terri Sanders on December 29th, 2011 4:39 pm

Whether or not “you” love and care about this boy has nothing to do with the desisions he has nade.I would be willing to bet,he has always been bailed out and never had to pay the consequences for his actions starting from when he was a little guy.It is called “tough Love” and I have had to dole it out with my kids.Did it hurt?YES! Did I feel good about doing it? NO!! But it was something I had to learn to do.

  13. just wondering on December 29th, 2011 3:48 pm

Well, we had a neighbor that had a bad past to say the least for years prior to being 18 just as this young person does. However, when they continue, it does catch up with them by way of Karma. My previous neighbor who is now in his 20’s has FINALLY been charged with enough felony charges, he won’t be out for a while. His “family” which was not his parents had the same reaction that “everybody has the story wrong and they just don’t know him”. People need to grow up and let them learn by paying their own way and standing on their own two feet!!!!! Do the crime, pay the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. not a nosey person on December 29th, 2011 1:39 pm

yea u need to hes a scarrrryyyyyy thug wow didnt know people r afraid of this kid hes a kid can u not defend yourself everybodys a saint compared to him be a big boy and do a neighborhood watch program there is ways to get around being scared if u are you have no reason to

  15. Bologna on December 29th, 2011 1:36 pm

The couple of comments I have to say to every one of you who apparently don’t know him, is God will judge him how he sees fit and trust me, God knows the reasons behind this incident and that’s all that matters. Not one of you do except his friends and family. You can judge him all you want, but from what I am reading here, these comments are coming from the people who don’t know him because if you did, you would be supportive & understanding as the ones are as you can see because if you would have been around to see this kid going through the pain he is going through and unfortunately, will be for the rest of his life which is awful for a kid his age, you would be a little more understanding to the facts. So no matter what he was caught with, God have mercy on the ones who are passing judgement on him and thank you all you supporters that have written as I am one of your supporters to Kyletta.

Really, his family and friends need to STOP defending him (which enables him)! LOOK AT HIS RECORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will you stop defending this CRIMINAL when he kills someone with his actions! From his criminal record ALONE you can tell people have made excuses for him. And this is just his adult record!

Making excuses for him all his life is most likely the reason trouble seems to follow him…..

  18. jcellops on December 29th, 2011 12:16 pm

20 oxycodone……hhmmm…….near a school….hmmmm…….excessively dark window tint……hhhmm….refusing to allow a vehicle search……..ok, ok…- ill give him the benefit of the doubt……maybe he had residual pain from his previous accident and just “borrowed” the oxycodone from a goodhearted friend?……maybe he was just driving near tate HS because he was lost?…maybe he has sensitive eyes and needed extra dark window tinting to prevent headaches?…..BUT- not letting the officer search his vehicle!!! nope, just cant understand that one…something is very fishy here….oh well…..i do know that his friends or family had to come up with a quick NONREFUNDABLE $500.00 to get him out….and, then sign a promisary note to the court for the $5,000.00 bond, should he violate any crimes or skip town prior to his arraingment….maybe if they had left him in jail for a couple weeks or so, hed be more inclined to decide that living “below” the law is NOT really in his best interest.

  19. juju1962 on December 29th, 2011 12:12 pm

He is wrong and needs help…there is no excuse for his behavior and no excuse for drugs period. Family may love him..but they need to get him help..and help for shooting animals..that is just wrong…no matter how much you love him..if you love him, then help him..that may be letting him get locked up.

  20. northend voter on December 29th, 2011 11:20 am

I understand all of the relatives defending him. One can expect that. But this guy is a criminal. Shooting a pregnant donkey, more than once. That incident alone makes this guy a heartless thug. We will see his face on this site and probably in a post office as time goes on by. Just thankful I don’t live around Jacks Branch Rd.

  21. Know your facts on December 29th, 2011 10:52 am

In response to “whatever” & the comment made. YOU OBVIOUSLY DON’T KNOW ALL THE FACTS!!!!!!!!!!! Where does it say anything about a assult with a weapon that was actually charged on him. You need to read it again as you are wrong in your comment.

  25. caristyn on December 29th, 2011 10:45 am

why don’t some body look at the judge?, in fact , why does’nt some body sue the judge, I know the judges are over loaded , but so are the doctors,,,, yet they still take cases ,and or patients , knowingly overloaded,,,. which causes them to let cases go in order to get the next one.

  28. whatever on December 29th, 2011 8:23 am

Yes, everyone felt sorry for him then… look at his record! Right after shooting the donkey, he had a VOP for assault with a weapon on a human! Not to mention the careless driving and speeding (88 in a 55, Jacks Branch Rd maybe?)… he needs to be locked up so the residents on Jacks Branch can feel safe in their own yards!

  29. northend voter on December 29th, 2011 7:09 am

Everybody felt sorry for this criminal after the wreck. This guy has not changed his ways. He is still out there, Everyone on Jacks Branch Rd, keep your doors and windows locked. As long as this outlaw is out of jail, no one is safe!!

  30. Everett on December 29th, 2011 1:41 am

This should be a VOP from the donkey incident. Recent wreck with 5K in damages. Another ticket recently for doing 88 in a 55mph zone.

    When will he ever learn?
