Man, 82, Charged With Passing Stolen Checks In Century

December 22, 2011

An elderly Jay man is facing felony charges for allegedly passing stolen checks at a Century grocery store.

Marvin M. Creamer, 82, was charged with grand theft and two counts of passing a forged instrument. He remains in the Escambia Jail without bond for failing to appear back in 1999 for driving under the influence.

Creamer allegedly provided his Florida driver’s license and passed checks for $987 and $896.64 at the Food Giant on North Century Boulevard, according to an Escambia County Sheriff’ Office arrest report.  The checks had been reported as stolen to the Flomaton Police Department by S&S Construction in Flomaton.

Judge Joyce Williams ordered that Creamer could be released without bond to a responsible adult on the check charges.

“Just another older citizen trying the best he knows how to survive in this Democratic economy! We should all be more understanding and compassionate.”

I understand that anyone who makes a statement about “Democratic economy” has more grass growing between his ears than brains.

Seems like when your grade school teacher was teaching, you said “who cares”!

Everyone is being hit hard by this economy. If we all went out and broke the law because we are having it rough. It would be a lawless, Godless place. There are plenty of people willing to help the elderly and those down on their luck without being out there stealing. I hate it for his family. I do hope that they are able to get the help they need whatever the help may be. I do think that in order for him to think he had to do this, that there is a reason why. May God touch his family and help them through whatever problems they are having. You never know what someone is going through.

That is A LOT of money at a Grocery Store!

The judge was Compassionate enough to allow him to be released to a Responsible adult. I agree tough times cause desperate messaures but there is help for Seniors!

He was held for failure to appear on a DUI back in 1999?

Guess he was busy doing more important things.
