Cox Experiences Internet, Phone, 911 Outage

December 2, 2011

Cox Communications customers are currently experiencing service outages that include 911 telephone service. Residents in need of emergency services are advised to use their cell phones to call 911. Cox is currently working on the issue and hopes to restore services soon, according to Cam Johnson, Escambia County spokesman.

@Andrew Cameron: What about Dish and DirectTV? Those are other video options. If the price was truly too high, competitors would come in and overbuild, but it sounds like the area is not lucrative enough for a third facilities-based provider.

I went to bed last night without phone service, internet came back on line but no phone, this morning 12/03/2011 phones were back also. We customers pay VERY high prices for Cox service, so the question is why don’t we in Pensacola have other cable choices, Cox has gone crazy with there prices and the good service is now in question.

Thank you for informing us. I’ve come to rely on your site to learn what is going on in this county.

I couldn’t get internet or phone service tonight. I couldn’t reach Cox by phone. I used my phone to look at PNJ and WEAR sites, but NO NEWS.

    Thank you.

Thanks for the info. It’s not on their website and it’s from Eglin AFB to Niceville as far as I know. Gotta get a hard line phone, this happens too often with Cox.
