Chipley High Bus Burns On The Way To Northview

December 2, 2011

A bus transporting Chipley High School’s football team to Friday night’s semifinal game at Northview High School burned on the interstate.

There were no injuries and the team was able to save all of the equipment,  Mike Morrison, public information officer for the Walton County Sheriff’s Office told NorthEscambia.com. The bus fire began during the 4:00 hour on I-10 at the 74 mile marker near Defuniak Springs.

The photograph on this page was taken as the fire was starting; it engulfed and destroyed  the bus, according to Tracy Hinote, mother of Chipley player Kyle Hinote. She confirmed that there were no injuries and none of the football equipment was lost. She said that several players did lose their personal items on the bus, such as jackets

The team secured another bus to continue to Northview High School.

To “Grannywatching”, the comment was based on the one that said it was a sign for them to forfeit and go back home. The comment is uncalled for, our boys and girls could have been seriously injured. We are so thankful that everyone is ok. If this would have happened to the kids from Northview you wouldn’t appreciate the comment either. But you are correct, what goes around comes around…God doesn’t like ugly. Great game by both teams. Both worked hard and CHIPLEY won!

That thought crossed my mind as well. Thank you Lord for preserving life and wellness.

Whoever ‘KT’ is~ nothing wrong with the “first comment”~ this is all about opinions, she has the right to speak hers same as you do yours. Some might even think the refs were paid off to do what that did with the nitpicking so Chipley would have a better chance of winning. It’s just another game and someone will win and someone will lose. Each to their own! And I do believe in Kharma…,my grandma use to say~ “what goes around comes around”!

  13. AL on December 2nd, 2011 7:15 pm

Wow…. thank God all the boys are ok!!

(and another “WOW” for the comments – you do know kids lives were at stake? what would you say if someone said those things about your son standing on the side of the interstate watching his bus burn??? Grow up folks )

Glad they are all okay! That’s very rude of ya’ll to say mean things after all that happened! Glad God was watching over them! Glad Chipley is so much better than this because no one would talked like this about the chiefs if this would have happened! You guys make yourselves sound REALLY low! That’s sad you would wish harm on another team just because a stupid game!

Thank the Lord for the safety of everyone riding that bus and anywhere
around it. We must seek God’s protection for our children and grandchildren
each and everyday. Let us forget the thoughts of forfeit games and so on,
while we are thankful for the safety of everyone.

  21. Rachel on December 2nd, 2011 6:26 pm

To all the negative pessimistic people that did not want to see Chipley High School be able to make it to the game obviously knew that the Spirit of the Tigers runs deeper than your faith in the Cheifs. I am sad to see that people are more concerned about the record than the safety of the students and parents that were on that bus

What should matter the most is that all the Chipley players are all okay! Some comments show no concern for the Chipley players. It shows the unsportsman like conduct from some of the people in the area.

  23. molinogirl on December 2nd, 2011 6:20 pm

First comment is totally uncalled for. All of the players from each team have worked very hard to get to this game…So thankful that all involved are safe and on their way to the game!

  30. SW on December 2nd, 2011 6:11 pm

Guess that means the refs got out okay, too.

Snarky remark, I know, but I couldn’t help myself.

  31. Ryne Barrow on December 2nd, 2011 6:11 pm

Wow! Hope we don’t get flagged for that one. Sheets had nothing to do with that.

  32. occupant on December 2nd, 2011 6:08 pm

This just means that Chipley is so hot they set the bus on fire!!!!

  33. Keith on December 2nd, 2011 5:53 pm
