America’s Most Wanted Dewayne ‘Money’ Pinestraw Extradited To Escambia

December 28, 2011

Recently named one of America’s Most Wanted, a Cantonment resident that was the suspected triggerman in the shooting of a Pensacola toddler is now back in Escambia County.

Dewayne “Money” Pinestraw of Lake Drive, Cantonment, was extradited Tuesday from Texas and booked into the Escambia County Jail. He is being held without bond on an open count of murder for the shooting death of Ty’Quarius Moultrie, 19 months old; aggravated battery for the shooting of Vincent Dennis, 23; and firing a weapon into an occupied building for the incident that occurred in July at Pensacola Village, 500 East Fairfield Drive.

On the run since July, Pinestraw, 19, was apprehended last week in Dallas by the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force.

Pinestraw, using the alias “Nicholas Williams” was found hiding out at a house believed to be the home of a girl he befriended in recent months. According to U.S. Marshals on the scene, they had to force the door open to apprehend him, where they recovered a 9 mm handgun, marijuana and fake identification. The marshals were able to capture Pinestraw only 48 hours after his story aired on the TV program America’s Most Wanted.

“Although we had leads to the Dallas area we could never pinpoint his location,” said Inspector Dominic Guadagnoli of the Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force in Pensacola. “It’s simple; without AMW (America’s Most Wanted) he’d still be a fugitive.”

Not because I agree but since it was sarcastically requested:
“he must’ve had a terrible childhood.
We just “don’t know the full story” on him.
Wasn’t there just no help for that poor boy?
    No one helped him!
So he just shot a toddler. ”

It’s extremely hard to feel any pity for him if he did what he is accused of doing. Ultimately he is responsible for the choices he made that day and each one before and after.

Most people don’t grow up to do such things. Somehow he became convinced what he did was okay. Maybe he was raised wrong or not at all. Maybe his friends had a stronger influence on him than any good influences (assuming some existed) in his life. It doesn’t make a lot of sense because we pick our friends, but most of us didn’t grow up as he did.

A reasonable question might be as to why he grew up as he did, could anything have done differently?

No, we know things could have been done differently because, again, most don’t grow up to act this way.

I don’t see where we owe him too much pity or consideration if he did what he is accused of doing, but anything which could reduce such actions in the future by other people would be appreciated.

Blame “society” if you wish, but then you would wish “society” would do your job of raising decent human beings.

    Request to all parents:
Please look at the decent people you know and learn from the people who raised them.
Look at the sorry people you know and avoid any errors you see in how THEY were raised.

    David for better people
    fewer killers

He’s not smiling anymore. Glad he was found. As far as his parents. we all tend to look @ the parents in situations like this or outrageous behavior but its not always the parents. It may or may not be in this case. We as parents(some) supply these children with positive direction. Its ultimately out of our hands which direction they choose. As unfortunate as it seems we have no control of their actions when they are “adults”. Whether they are 18 or 40 living in or away from home we can not be with them 24/7. we always pray they will make the right decisions in life.

Dan, he’s 19. I’m pretty sure he will be tried as an adult.
