A Christmas Gift: Teen With Leukemia Uses Her One Wish To Help Others

December 19, 2011

Leukemia patient Sarah Kelly, an Escambia County teen, was recently granted a wish by the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Rather than choose most anything she wanted as a wish for herself, she decided to go on a shopping spree and purchase items needed for the Ronald McDonald House in Pensacola.

Sarah said she understands what children and families like her own go through first hand, and she was  hoping to bring some happiness to those in need this Christmas season.

Sunday, Sarah began her day at her favorite restaurant — Carrabba’s Italian Grill. She then made her way to the Wal-Mart on Creighton Boulevard who provided a $100 gift card to help out with her purchases. She  also visited the Lowe’s on Airport Boulevard  where she received additional discounts and her very own check-out lane.

I am so proud of you! So many of us talk about helping others but you did it. You are a beautiful and unselfish person who thinks more about others than you do yourself. I challenge all the people reading about your wonderful act of kindness to go out and follow your example. May you be filled with peace and happiness. Your parents should be very proud, I know I am…

Its very sad that anyone has to go thru anything like that but when someone so young does such a selfless act like that it brings me hope and brought tears to my eyes! God is so good and i applaud her! :-)

  28. Shawn Ray Rudd on December 19th, 2011 6:53 am

This is hands down the most selfless act I’ve heard of this year!

Being someone who suffers and has faced their own mortality I came to the conclusion long ago, “Life is not what you take from this world while here, it is the legacy and memories you leave behind for others”

    John 8:12
