West Florida Wins District 1-5A Title In 3-Way Shootout
November 8, 2011
The West Florida Jaguars emerged from a 3-way shootout Monday night as District 1-5A champions.
West Florida, Panama City Arnold and Gulf Breeze were all 3-1 in the district headed into the showdown on the Jag’s home turf at Woodham Middle School.
In the first 12-minute quarter, Gulf Breeze beat Arnold 3-0.
In the second 12-minute game for the district title, West Florida beat Gulf Breeze 7-0. Things were off to a rough start for the Dolphins, as they fumbled the ball away on their very first possession of the night. West Florida drove all the way down to the Dolphin one before missing a field goal attempt.
The Jaguars scored with 1:06 to go in the game with a 40-yard touchdown pass from Kyle Faxlanger to Lawrence Lee.
On November 18, the West Florida Jaguars will host Tallahassee Godby in the Class 5A regional quarterfinals.
The Jaguars will host the 1A Northview Chiefs in a regular season ending game Thursday at 7 p.m. at Woodham Middle School.

West Florida is the only “A” high school in Escambia County and has been for 7 years in a row. Since the children who attend this school come from all over Escambia County they are truly representing Escambia County well. GO JAGS!!!
Thanks WF dad. Congrats on an outstanding season!!
@Charles, West Florida High School of Advanced Technology is located in Pensacola, FL in the same complex as the George Stone Technical Center (they share the same facilities) right next door to Pine Forest High School.
Woodham High was lowered to a Middle School…so WFHS uses that stadium as their home stadium now.
Go Jags!!
West Florida High School is located on Longleaf Drive off of Pine Forest Road. It is also George Stone. West Forida is parternered with companies, such as Gulf Power, Cox Cable and other companies that the classes are geared toward. They offer criminal justice, sports medicine, and other classes that help a student go toward that program.
The students have to apply for the school, then there is a “lottery” where the students are chosen.
Woodam was made into a middle school several years ago.
WFHS uses Woodam Stadium to play their home games.
Charles Weaver,
Woodham is a Middle School now. West Florida do not have a football field and plays at the Woodham stadium. West Florida is located 2400 Longleaf Dr
Pensacola.
I live in north Alabama and just found this web site. My questions are: where is West Florida HS and what happened to Woodham HS?
Isn’t this the high school that went winless for the first few years? Seems like who ever is in charge now has them going in the right direction!! Great job!!!
woowhoo
way to go west florida !!
now that is simply fantastic, go Jags!
