No Injuries In Hwy 97 Crash

November 25, 2011

There were no injuries in a single vehicle wreck Friday afternoon in Walnut Hill.

The driver of Chevrolet 1500 lost control while attempted to avoid a vehicle stopped from traffic at Highway 97 and Orchard Lane about 1 p.m. The female left the roadway, traveled through thick brush and struck a tree. She denied injury and refused treatment when the Walnut Hill Station of Escambia Fire Rescue arrived on scene.

The woman, whose positive identity was not immediately known, left the scene before the Florida Highway Patrol arrived. The FHP is continuing to investigate the crash.

Hang on FL Girl. We will soon have a commissioner in office, that can identify, and focus on correcting theses problems.

I know someone who lives on Orchard Lane. That is a real bad place to stop for traffic to turn, if you are turning left onto Orchard or headed south on Hwy 97. If I see cars coming on the other side, I just keep going and find a place to turn around. That is on a hill, around a curve, a blind spot to anyone going south. Best to start signaling way before you arrive there, up on top of that hill, and if there is traffic to yield to, then keep on going and turn around! Not worth the loss of life, there have been many wrecks there.

    >>What I was wondering is if that is a county truck? Is that a county
    emblem on the side?

No, it’s not a county truck and that’s not even an emblem on the side. It’s a chrome fuel door.

What I was wondering is if that is a county truck? Is that a county
emblem on the side? I always wonder why the county employees
get to drive their trucks home at our expense. They drive clear to
Molino with tax payer gas and wear and tear on the trucks.

For some reason, the driver was NOT paying attention. If she was drunk, then this will become a repeated problem and one day it may end up tragic. If she had a medical condition, this too would need to be addressed for everyones saftey. If she was distracted for some other reason,,texting, changing radio channels, then it is carelss driving and a threat to all on the road.If nothing is done, then her behavior goes undisiplined and she learns nothing. If you leave and how did she leave?lives close? a friend? To me you don’t run unless you have a valid reason to avoid an investigation.

One reason for calling EMS is some times there are injuries that show up later– it’s better to be checked. I recall several years ago a city officer responded to a fight call and the “victim” said he was ok. The officer could not see that there was a good size cut in the persons mouth and the person was swallowing the blood. The long and the short of it was that the fellow died. From then on the officer was nick named “Doc”.

The problem with leaving the scene is the one’s who returned may not
be the driver. Not saying this is the case in this accident, but we do see
to many times when drivers are drunk and run. If there is an accident
there is a reason and since they were on a public highway with my
kids it is my right I feel to know who was driving for sure and if they
were in any way impaired. It is easy to stop behind someone making
a turn if you are not impaired, speeding or tailgating.

I am glad no one was hurt in this accident.

The story didn’t say she left in the truck, obviously hence the pictures. Another case of crash and run??????

Glad she was unharmed! Just wanted to add some info that we recently received from FHP… After an accident less than 1/2 mile from our house on a dirt road with no injures and no property damage other than our personal vehicle, some one called 911. Emergency personnel responded to call while we were in the process of removing the vehicle from roadway, we informed them we were fine, no services needed. We were then informed that we could not leave the scene because FHP was enroute and we would be charged with leaving scene of an accident if we left. Blah blah blah… Well, FHP officer arrived and asked a few questions. The officer verified no injures, no property damages, driver was legal and insurance was valid. The officer then asked for details about accident, asked if there would be an insurance claim upon which we stated no and that no accident report was needed. At this point the officer asked why was he even there then. We informed the officer we told Emergency personnel to cancel the call, that we did not request it and the services were not needed. This is when they told us they could not do that and we could not leave the scene. FHP officer stated we could have personally cancelled the call by dialing *FHP and explaining to dispatcher that services were not needed and request call to be cancelled. This is info I will remember from now on.

Why does it sons fishy? With what is known think about it, woman driver runs off road and hits a tree. Truck still runs (although that sounds fishy alone to me due to it being a chevy and all), the woman is not hurt, why do cops have to come? No harm no foul I think.
