Molino Man Gets Probation On Drug Charges

November 7, 2011

A Molino man has been sentenced to probation on drug charges.

Adjudication was withheld by Judge Michael Allen as he sentenced 26-year old  Thomas Sheffield to 24 months probation on a felony count of marijuana possession with intent to sell and felony possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations/Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant in July 2011 at Sheffield’s residence  in the 9000 block of Gibson Road.

Sheffield told deputies that all of his drugs were on the back porch, according to an Escambia County Sheriff’s Office report. That’s were deputies found over 20 grams of marijuana and a 9mm Glock handgun, according to the arrest report. Inside the house, deputies reported finding more marijuana, questionable prescription medication, a .22 caliber handgun, a SKS rifle and $1,725 in cash located on the top of the fireplace.

How much tax money was spent for a weed and prescription med conviction? it’s obvious there was no laws broken for having guns and cash on the property.

Hold your head up, Thomas. You broke a silly law but you haven’t done anything wrong. This too shall pass.

so a metric ton is over 20 grams and might be listed the same way?

or do they have a point at which they say, “over a kilogram” or “over a hundred kilograms”?

just curious, don’t intend to go in the business

Please note it said over 20 grams. That is the break point for misdemeanor and felony.

This is *not* an easy sentence. This man should never have been bothered about this. When are folks gonna stand up for keeping the government out of people’s business?

You people can defend this guy all you want. He was in possession of drugs and that is illegal. He received an easy sentence and if he doesn’t get into any more trouble then it wont be on his record.

this guy should only be fined… and that only because possession of less than an ounce of pot REALLY ought to be legal, but since it is not YET… a fine is all he should get..

Oh no! Not 20g of weed and questionable prescription medications! This guy is a king pin!

Most people I know in this area have .22 pistols/rifles, and more high powered rifles… no surprise there… a Glock! Oh noes! Everyone associates 9mm pistols with gangs and violence, so he must be a bad person!

Sounds like a waste of county resources “executing a search warrant” so I guess he has to pay the county back with probation since it was a flop for a raid… if it weren’t he’d be in prison where he couldn’t pay anything back… and we don’t want that!

So they get arrested and then let loose by a judge. What a waste of taxpayer’s money! Get a new judge.
