Wear Flip-Flops Or Go Barefoot: Meagan Wilburn Funeral Service Today
October 15, 2011
Funeral services will be held today for Meagan Wilburn, the nine-year old Bratt Elementary student who died Tuesday after an ATV accident in Walnut Hill. And her mom is asking family and friends to wear flip-flops or go barefoot for the funeral.
“Meagan never liked to wear shoes, and she will be buried barefoot,” her mother, Rebekah Wilburn, said. “It’s all about her and how she would want things.”
Funeral services will be at 3:00 Saturday afternoon at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home in Atmore with the Rev. Ted Bridges officiating. Burial will follow at the Dry Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to service time.

She just seems like a beautiful little girl. God be with family and friends this day and in the days ahead.
Very good for you. At my sons funeral (he was 16) I told everyone to not dress up for him. wear what he would recognize you in. all of the teenagers wore t-shirts and jeans and most of his immediate family did the same (including me) and in the procession some of his friends actually played rap music(that was his favorite) pretty loud. I wanted them to feel comfortable just the way he wouldve wanted it. Always remember she is looking down and smiling at you.
I didn’t know this little angel but I can just see her smiling at this so happy that family & friends are making this a celebration if her life. Remember her smiles & good memories. These will help you grow stronger as each day passes. She is barefoot & fancy free dancing with angels on high!
such a beautiful angel she left this world to early . she just begun her life and such a terrible thing happen. i never new Megan but i drive a school bus with lots of precious children. it broke my heart heart to her what had happen to this beautiful child. but i guess Jesus was ready for another beautiful angel.
Meagan will be giggling from up in heaven today….We will either be in flip flops or barefeet for the funeral, then at the cemetary we will all be barefoot with hot pink toenails, yes, even some of the guys. This is for you Megan, hope you like it!!!
